New to forum but not to LD's

I've had 2 very good LD's and multiple starts/quick finishes but last night was the first that i was able to ask someone in my dream their name and they actually answered back. I've read about dream guides and stuff and i talked to people in my dreams before but they would never listen to what i was trying to tell them about it all being a dream. I read somewhere to ask the name of a person who looked interested in what i was doing in my dream and when i noticed a woman standing near a doorway gazing at me i instantly blurted out "whats your name?" She replied "Brenda" and i then woke up. I quickly wrote it down while it was fresh in my head. Now i'm back to looking for info once again on the subject and am wondering where to go from here. I'm wondering if brenda will be in my future dreams as a dream guide or if it was just a fluke. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea about 5 to 7 years ago and use a cpap machine to sleep at night which i feel has hindered any lucid dreaming since then but last night with cpap mask on that lucid dream was on point. The next few days should be interesting.

Hey, congrats on your lucid dreams.

I have had some experiences with talking with dream characters about lucid dreaming, in 3 or 4 occasions, and they didn't seem to know it was a dream, or maybe in one occasion but still they wanted to do something else. So far i cannot conclude anything about that, and also every experience may be different for every dreamer. Maybe it would be an interesting thing to explore ocasionally.

In my case, at first i heard about dream guides and was interested in it. But i didn't have many lucids to be able to search for it. So, it might be interesting to have it as a dream goal, but don't depend on it to attain future lucid dreams, to make it get you lucid in your dreams, because it probably won't work. In my opinion a dream guide might be useful in helping out either in dream situations or problems of your daily life that you want to resolve in the dream world, and the dream guide might not always be the same! It might change from dream to dream.
So far im taking the approach that there will always be something that i can resolve in my dreams, therefore i will try to guide myself. But sometimes unexpectedly some dream characters would help me. Either teaching me something, or helping me in difficult dream situations out of nothing. Even dream situations with no character at all have been useful as guides, like seeing the clouds opening up or something like that. So it is benefitial to have the idea that anyone in the dream can help you and be your guide.
Anyways hear what other members have to say about guides. They might have other experiences to share.

I would like to say that it is very good that you wrote down that name. The same procedure can be done for writing down dreams, since dreams are most fresh when one wakes up and one can try to remember earlier memories of the dream easier. Also if one leaves the task for later one might forget the dream.

      Welcome to the forum.
