Through the time vortex comes a noob

Hey. So I was a lurker here big time about 11-13 years ago. I learned a lot, but never really posted much at all. I've loved every second of using what I've learned here and the books I was referred to. It's awesome to see some of the same people still posting here and y'all keep it up. Obviously you're doing things right.

This is why I've finally decided to come here and just post right off the bat. I know this is the place to turn for some help and that is what I'm looking for. If anybody can steer me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. I know I could mentor newbies very well, if I could eventually be able to do so I'd be honored, but I need a serious vet to help me out with a problem I've been having lately.

My problem is extreme violence and instability once I gain control. For some reason I've been encountering a lot of it. And even though I can go lucid and escape, it still makes sleeping that little bit harder. It is also my personal request that if I can find some help, it would also have to be a Christian or Christian-sympathetic member (simply my personal preference because of how I deal with these dreams, I'm not here to force things down people's throats).

It might've been the music that finally convinced me of the power of lucid dreaming. Or, well, maybe the kissing.

Do you mean instability of the dream itself? If so, I would advise checking out these pages on our Wiki about Dream Stability and Control.

Or do you mean emotional instability? It's fairly normal for emotions to be amplified in dreams, lucid and non-lucid. However, lucid dreams give you the perfect avenue for which to find out why your are having these intense feelings. If the characters in your dream are acting violent towards you, remind yourself that you are dreaming and cannot be hurt, and then confront them on why they are acting the way they are, or what they are supposed to represent. If instead you're the one feeling inexplicably violent in your dreams, set an intention during the day that you will remain calm when you are lucid, or set an intention that you will have peaceful lucid dreams. Either way, be prepared that the dream may show you some aspect of yourself that you may need to improve on in order to reduce these feelings of anger and violence.

Wow, sorry for the very late reply, lot's been going on. Also I haven't clicked on those first links yet, I'll do that next, but yes instability of the dream itself is the main point. The DC's are acting extremely violent and I'm having to act violent to defend myself. I'm fine defending myself, for the most part, it's natural to myself and not so much of a nightmare, but stressful. It's hard to describe and makes me restless at night. It's like I go lucid but straight back to sleep once I have to defend myself.
In the last post, I mentioned the Christian thing and maybe that seemed weird to people, but it really worked praying lucidly in my dreams against these terrifying demons that would show up while I was lucid. Call me crazy, w/e but I don't know how to conquer these extremely violent DC's. They aren't weird/demon looking or anything just everyday people living in total anarchy most nights. :|

Hi Poseidonlost, I've had some trouble with similar DC behavior before. I also like to avoid violent confrontation with them, so over time I've attempted multiple ways to go around this issue.

On several occasions, I would engage the DCs through thought and emotion control (projecting positive expectations towards them) and thus make them much more benign where they would even happily sing with me. So next time a violent DC comes by, why not remember or come up with a jolly song. Other ways have included hugging DCs which can really transform them into more friendlier versions. Finally, at more advanced stages you may try to completely ignore their existence. This works best if you keep them out of sight and focus on something else in your environment.

Thanks for the reply NyxCC. I didn't think of directing good vibes towards the DCs. Thanks for the tip. I've been doing better, but had another knife show up in a nap today. I just concentrated on subduing the DC with dream control, but had to take a stab in order to do so. I'll try your way next time. I know reading this, replying, and thinking about it will help me the next time this crap comes up.

Maybe I just suck at controlling DCs compared to the environment. And I'd like to clarify, in an earlier post I said it was instability of the dream, but it's more so instability of the DCs. I'll put some thought into it. Thanks again.
