Is LD conflictive with everyday life?

Ok, first of all I would like to say hello to everyone for this is my first post here after reading the websites content and deciding on starting LD.
I searched for a similiar post but couldn't find anything so here goes...

If lucid dreams appear very real as everyone is saying, will it cause for a person to confuse reality with a LD?
For example in a difficult stressful situation to use the "dream spinning' method. That would look very awkward.

I know the information on this website gave a caution on excessive and forced attempts on LD. Is there a possibility for ones mind to just "snap" and continuously believe that he/she is in a dream? (resulting in confinement in a mental hospital ? ).

I would very much appreciate any explanations to these notions or any other relating to them.

      Thank you.

      Hi there,

First, It would be very hard not to separete reality from a dream, If this thing happens, I think the problem would rely more on the psychological determination of that person, for example, someone who isn't very aware of there surrondings for X reason.

Second, No, I have never heard of such a thing as someone snaping believing everyday life is a dream, On a personal note, I have been lucid dreaming since very little and I have never encounter either of this problems.

Welcome to DVs, and don't be afraid of dreams, in the end they are just dreams, being scared of them might actually make you loose some of the best dreams you could ever have
      Here and there...

unless one has extreme difficulty telling the difference between what is real, and what is fantasy or dream before they start lucid dreaming, i would say there is close to zero chance of 'snapping' or suddenly losing grip on reality.

it is true that every now and then i suspect i am dreaming and am actually awake, but in these cases i just do a more discreet reality check, such as staring at my hands and counting my fingers, re-reading a short paragraph, trying to stretch my index finger, etc...there are many ways to accurately test whether you are dreaming or not without looking foolish.

      So now begins my journey.

I also wish you good luck like all of those above me. I've had times when I've been awake and briefly thought that I was in a dream, but came to my senses after a few reality checks. Always remember to perform several before engaging in any act that may have rather negative consequences in the "real world."

That actually happened to me, but I had very little sleep, and a reality check "failed". That was also the first time it had ever happened to me. So basically what I am trying to say is, yes it can happen but alot of circumstances have to be met first.
