      *Hey Everyone*

Bit of info about me before I begin:
I'm 16 years and I live in the UK. I'm planning to go to college after the summer and once I finish college I hope to travel the world.
I like lots of different kinds of music and I enjoy sketching - especially in the style of manga or traditional japanese art. I find them both interesting.

I've always had any interest in dreams but I never really took the time to explore the subject properly. But that changed after last night when I knew I was in a dream because I inadvertantly performed a reality check by looking at myself in the mirror and finding I looked like a completely different person and I was also having a lot of fun jumping and staying in mid-air and knowing I was able to. I wasn't aware that I was having some vague kind of lucid dream until I came here (I think that can be classified as a lucid dream right?)

So I've made the decision to finally look into the subject properly and start a dream journal sometime soon.

      Hey Tom,

Well, the classic definition of a lucid dream is being aware that you are dreaming. So if you remember knowing you were dreaming, then yes, you were lucid.

However, if you just went along in the dream and thought you simply had this special ability to levitate in the air, you may have been simply dreaming about having this ability (and other identity).

Either way, glad to have you with us!

Welcome, to DV, Tom (nice username BTW with the .: :p)

If you really want to get into the subject properly, I definately recommend "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming" by Stephen LaBurge.

      Anyway, see you around Tom.

Hmm...well it was a mix of both. I was only aware for a short while after looking in the mirror then I forgot about and just went on my merry way levitating - kind of just going along with it all like I usually do. However, when I researched the dream (that research led me here) I found out those were both potential reality checks one of which I noticed and one I didn't. I hope that makes sense

Didn't copy you on that, honest :p
I'll look into getting a copy, I've heard of that book before.
I've noticed some good topics in the tutorials section which look good too.

Thanks for the warm welcome by the way.

Hi Tom! Funny you should mention you looked different. Last night I dreamed that I put lipstick on, but I didn't really have a regular mouth, so I had to draw one with my lipstick. Hello, that should have been a reality check!

That's pretty strange and most certainly a potential reality check. I guess that's the one of the main points to it to recognise those kinds of things.

Nope, can't say I am since I didn't know him before I joined here.
