      Lightbulb REM period

How can you tell when you enter your REM period?
As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.

Not sure exactly what you mean?

You can tell personally when you are in REM because you will be dreaming. There are a few devices on the market that can detect REM and provide you with a stimulus.

dröm, I also don't know if this answers your question but I found the following doing an internet search:

About 25% of your total sleep is composed of REM sleep, which is usually the time when you dream and when your brain is most active. REM stands for "rapid-eye movement" because the eyes are often active during REM and most people experience vivid dreams during this stage of sleep.

One of the most telling signs of REM sleep is a muscle paralysis that comes over the body.

      What Is REM Sleep? (http://www.webmd.com/sleep-disorders/guide/sleep-101)

Usually, REM sleep occurs 90 minutes after sleep onset. The first period of REM typically lasts 10 minutes, with each recurring REM stage lengthening, and the final one may last up to an hour. Polysomnograms show brainwave patterns in REM to be similar to that recorded during wakefulness. In people without sleep disorders, heart rate and respiration speed up and become erratic during REM sleep. During this stage the eyes move rapidly in different directions.

Intense dreaming occurs during REM sleep as a result of heightened brain activity, but paralysis occurs simultaneously in the major voluntary muscle groups. REM is a mixture of encephalic (brain) states of excitement and muscular immobility. For this reason, it is sometimes called paradoxical sleep.

The percentage of REM sleep is highest during infancy and early childhood. During adolescence and young adulthood, the percentage of REM sleep declines. Infants can spend up to 50% of their sleep in the REM stage of sleep, whereas adults spend only about 20% in REM.

REM period back to when you were an infant?
because that would be really cool

Talking I remember REM Dreams from early childhood

I'm 41 and still learning the ropes of this discipline. However to contribute to this thread..I remember dreams back to age 5 or so. I can also remember instances from age...oh not sure but I do remember being in the crib! Some of those dreams have stuck with me ever since!
