I joined because I'm freaking out!!! I ALWAYS lucid dream!!

Hey, I'm Nicole. I'm very worried, because I never not lucid dream. I've always dreamt consciously, ever since I was little, and rarely have unconscious dreams. I had no clue that people didn't normally dream lucidly, so I'm very concerned. What does this mean? I always thought it was a "cool thing I could do", controlling my dreams like I do. I can do whatever I want in my dreams; I've always been the author. But as I've delved more into research, I've realized it's rarer than I'd first believed. Please help me! I had no idea it was considered difficult or unnatural.

I also have very vivid realistic dreams. My dreams are usually things that could possibly happen in real life; it's never like I've become a fairy and I'm suddenly flying winglessly. Actually, I often confuse what occurs in dreams to what happens in reality. This results in a dilemma sometimes.

Thank you so much, and I really do hope to become a good part of this forum. Dreams interest me tremendously.

Stop for a moment and think. There are several thousand people who wish they could be you. >_> Seriously, don't freak out! XD That's very amazing, and I've actually met a few other people in the past who have claimed the same thing, though certainly not that many. It is slightly "unnatural" but that doesn't mean you're a freak or a weirdo. Just means you're gifted. If only we all were!

Thank you, but my mind is still reeling. I can't help but feel like I freak. I had NO IDEA that people tried to achieve dreams like that.

I'm also a strong synesthetic, if that has anything to do with it. I've always suspected it has....

XD I'd probably be a little weirded out too, don't worry. But still, that's so amazing! I wish I could do that! And you'll be a great help to the forum, I bet, because you've got experience very few of us have.

Synesthetic, eh? I've heard of that before, and I suppose there could be some correlation between lucidity and that. Maybe your mind is just awesome. XD

      Welcome to DreamViews

You're not a freak, you're a natural as people say. Most people aren't natural lucid dreamer... I'd feel special if I was you! Now you can go brag at everyone and tell them you can dream unconsciously every night. They'll be like "It's impossible!" and you can laugh at them! lol! (no I'm not the bragging type) but that'd be funny.

Don't worry, let it be! If you won the lottery, would you freak? Okay... bad exemple... lol!

      What is synesthetic?

Anyways, that's cool that you love dreams. Actually, I found out about DreamViews because I had good dreamrecall and was interested in dreams... I guess we all found this place because we are interested by dreams... Which means you are completly welcomed here since you're like us. (and even if you weren't, you'd still be welcomed)

Seriously, I really hope I don't sound like I'm bragging; I'm just saying, and I'm still freaking out.

I definitely will try my best to help all of you.

Synesthesia is a neurological condition when your senses are linked, or one sense will stimulate another. That's to put it as simply as possible. For example: projecting color onto letters, seeing color for songs, tasting words, etc. That's where photographic memory comes from (which I also have...maybe that also correlates?).

Again, I'm extremely curious on dreams and hope to discover a lot on the subject soon enough.

      syn⋅es⋅the⋅sia
      –noun
a sensation produced in one modality when a stimulus is applied to another modality, as when the hearing of a certain sound induces the visualization of a certain color.

So, for example, if you hear a song, you might visualize the color blue, or whatever. Or when you see a certain shape, you immediately associate a color with it. I took a test on it once and it said I was completely negative. XD

. . .Oop, you were too fast for me. XD Anyway, there it is from the dictionary.

LOL Thanks OpheliaSophronia for that definition.

Synesthesia is actually a lot more involved than I'd expected at first. It contributes to a lot of things I'd never been able to explain, and I'm pretty sure that's why I dream as vividly as I do. But who knows...I could be wrong.

No, you weren't bragging at all. I'm just saying that you have noting to worry about since you COULD brag which would be negative attitude

Awesome! Synesthesia sounds so cool! You are so cool! I wish I was you so much.... lol! Maybe I'm partly synesthesic since I get a taste to anything even if food wasn't mentionned. Like when I read about synesthesia I felt an aweosme flavor in my mouth! lol!

Trust me, you do not wish you were me. Although you might think having this is cool, my life sucks. I'm starting my fourteenth school next year! Woot woot! That's not even the start of it.

Hmm and no, that's not part of synesthesia. LOL But a lot of people have it and have no idea. It's really how strong it is. There are associators and projectors; associators are much more common. I just learned that recently too. LOL I'm a projector, and I'd figured there were more projectors, but apparently there are LOADS more associators. That means, instead of SEEING blue on the number 7, you just KNOW that 7 is blue.

Synesthesia is not all cakes and bunnies and rainbows. Trust me. There's a long list. About seeing music: because I have such a strong connection with music, I have musicophilia. Meaning, I have such an obsession with music that I feel like I'm dying without it. One time, when I was younger, I couldn't bring my music to camp, and I cried every night because I was so sick for my music. My brain was fogged for that whole week I was at camp, and I couldn't focus on ANYTHING because all I wanted and all I needed was my music.

And thank you! LOL Wow, I'm so flattered! This forum is making me feel good! LOL

No, I know I do not have synthesinthia! I wish! lol! I only can feel tastes but I don't hear noises or see things from other senses and I only taste stuff even though there's nothing in my mouth 'cause I like to do it and I use to try... It's more like tastegrahic memory, lol!

And yeah, I just went and looked so I know what a projector and an associator. You are a projector? That's awesome. So you actually see colors on each of the words I'm writing?

You're a musicophile? You are special (in a good way) You're one of these really interesting people!

Natural lucid dreamer, projector synthhersintic, musicophile? COuldn't you let some of these interesting charactereristics to anyone else? lol!

I know your life must not all be fluffy and pink (if you get what I mean). No life's perfect but none have no good at all.

Yes, I am seeing colors on every word typed up. It comes up much clearer on black text. Secondly white.

I'm special? Well, thank you! I still feel like a freak, but I probably will for a while LOL

Well, I'm heading out for tonight! Good night! Hope to talk more in the morning.

      Hello Lucid god.

What have you done in your dreams so far? Also here a quote:

"An obvious question is, “Can I learn to have lucid dreams?” The answer is quite simple: yes. Lucid dreaming is like any other skill—some are born with the ability, while most must practice and work at it. Some time ago I got into a discussion with my sister regarding lucid dreaming. I was surprised to discover that she had the ability to lucid dream at will, and always had, as far as she could remember. In fact, she thought it was quite normal—she had no idea that most of us couldn’t automatically have them."

      Gotten from here: http://www.dreamviews.com/learnable.php

You just one of the lucky few but you not a freak in the sense that you the only one with this gift...Just lucky. Enjoy it.
Noticed things in my lucid dreams: Not scare of death (kinda forgotten Freddy special power of killing in dreams, opps?) Huge ego which cause me to summon monsters, most DC are useless and don't even speak.

You might want to try Reality Checks. Usually they're used to find out when you're dreaming, but I've found that sometimes they're useful for checking to make sure you're really awake Note: I used to use the finger counting reality check all the time (if you have five fingers, you're awake. Any other number, and you're dreaming.) After a while my hands starting looking too realistic in dreams and I would think I was awake when I wasn't. I fixed this problem by trying to consciously create an extra finger whenever I did the reality check; if I was awake, nothing would happen, but in a dream it would eventually work. Great for practicing dream control, too.

      Hi,

With photographic memory, do you remember everything you decide to memorise? Could you "photograph" a page and read it from memory, or do you just understand everything that's written, the moment you photograph the page?

This may sound blatantly obvious, but have you ever considered that you dont have any perception of what a dream is? I probably worded that wrong, but what I mean is..

If you had a lucid dream, would it be completely different from what you're feeling? Then you would realize that you only thought you were having a lucid dream..

Don't worry, you're not a freak. You'd be surprised how many people are actually natural lucid dreamers. I suspect a large percentage of them are just like you- don't even realize that others are trying to do it, too!

Yes, I definitely remember things I decide to memorize, especially under pressure. Yes, I "photograph" pages and read it from memory. And sometimes I understand everything, but usually I don't. I have to read it first!

I'm myself in lucid dreams. It's like being transported to a little play world. For example, last night I had a dream that I went to this huge mall. So I made the best of it and went shopping. I was like, "Ooh, summer's nearly here, so I really need shorts and T-shirts." LOL I imaginary shopped and bought things I'd never be able to afford in reality.

      Why thank you!

I've let myself die before in dreams, but usually I steer away from the dream or take another path because it scares me and saddens me.

What do you mean by 360 degree view?

And yes, I actually completed one of the tasks last night! I'm going to go submit that right after this. Why do I feel like I'm cheating? I feel bad.

      I'm so jealous. Wow.
