      Starting out.

I found this site through serious googling this morning. Don't know if its the direction i should take but am pretty much open to anything at this point.
I have had a recurring nightmare for many years, with what i consider normal frequency - once every couple of months. the last month or so it has been nightly, and all night. its terrifying, vivid, and real enough to keep me pretty low and jumpy all through the day time.
I am kinda at a point of needing to face it and take control.
So, thoughts. Maybe a section on here that would be the best place to start? is this even a place I should start. Am open to anything. And have a pretty open mind.
      Thanks
      Andy

Read the main website, Dreamviews.com, to get yourself started. Since your dream is reoccurring, you could use it as a dream sign to achieve lucidity. In your case, I'd highly recommend dream-induced-lucid-dreaming as an induction technique.

Do remember, that once you realize you are dreaming, that none of it is real, and none of it can hurt you. I agree that you should confront it once lucid, instead of running. Good luck~

You could try posting your dream in the nightmare section:
      http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...splay.php?f=46

Sometimes, just writing it up and discussing it will make it less frightening. It could help you confront it. Might even make it seem silly, once you really start picking it apart.

Is this nightmare the only dream you normally remember? Maybe getting more familiar with dreams, in general, will help you view them as something fun and beneficial.

I thought about that. but wasn't sure if it was appropriate to just list my dream without having investigated this site a little more. So thanks for the nudge to do so. thought i might tonight when i get home from work.
It is not the only one I remember. I am a VERY vivid dreamer and always have been. they are incredibly real and stay with me for days. this is however, the only recurring dream i have.(and have had for years).

I've had recurring nightmares that have gone away after learning to recognize them as dreamsigns, and face them. It actually kind of sucks, because us Lucid Dreamers hate when a good dreamsign goes away.

But learning to recognize it, and face it, is the right path to take for sure.

Good luck. And welcome to the forum.
