Question Dreams that you can actually feel sensations.

Hey all, I've been having these strange dreams lately (for the past 2-3 years). I can actually feel things happening to me in my dreams. In my dreams I've been shot in the back many times, stabbed in the abdomen may times as well and I wake up while it's happening and can feel it for a few seconds while I wake up and then it goes away. For the past few months I've been having a dream about a ghost/phantom trying to pull the blankets off my bed while I'm trying to sleep and I always fight back and pull my blankets back toward me, and last nights dream really scared me because I felt someone pulling my hair, felt it in my dream and for a few seconds when I woke up. All these dreams that I have I always wake up and feel what was going on in that dream. Does anyone have this issue? I hope so I don't want to think I'm alone in this.

No need to worry, what you are having is called hypnopompic hallucinations or whatever its called, since, the hallucinations are mostly for visuals in this term. I've had the same thing happen lately. I ended up hitting my head in my dream two nights ago and when I woke up, my head IRL was hurting until I realized that I didn't really hit my head and that it was a dream

If you dream that, what do you do in your waking life?!

Hey do you think anything bad before you go off to sleep? Or while you are sleeping. These things happen to me when I do that.. like when I wake up in the middle of the night to roll over to my side and I think something nasty as I'm turning lol like a monster behind me or something crawling on the ceiling-- and then it appears in my dreams! That's why you should watch horror films in the daytime :-) This has happened several times to me these last two months. Actually in my very first experience like this, I cannot say it was a dream at all even.. It was as real as life and happened in my bedroom, only thing was that I kept my eyes closed because it was too damn scary.. My other dreams like this also happen in my bedroom/home, usually occurs just as I close my eyes again after rolling over.

I have also recently heard of a friend of someone I know and while she did not experience anything bad, it was similar.. Something awful had happened to her and she felt very depressed, and she just wanted to feel good again.. and she said there was this hot sensation all over her body, very very hot but never painful, just complete love and bliss and it lasted after as she awoke, and she in fact had to wish it to disappear so she could get back to her day. Otherwise she said she would have sat there in her bed feeling happy for hours and hours

I've had similar experiences in that upon waking I've felt things that were going on in my dreams. Whether it was waking up after sexual activity and feeling my body still buzzing with excitement, or falling off a building, landing on my arm and actually waking up in throbbing pain, or an emotion where I was fighting with my girlfriend and woke up really upset and sorta angry, I always just remember that its just a dream and they can sometimes seem more real than our waking state can.

A possible explanation is that your pain is for a reason. maybe a stomach cramp or you slept on your arm etc, and then you dream up a reason for it. I've had things happen in my dream reacting to real stimuli as if it knew they were coming. Once in my dream dinosaur opened its mouth and roared at me, i woke up and realized that roaring noise was a garbage truck driving past my house.

I get that a lot. Most of the time it's toned down though, so like if I kick a wall and wake up, it will only be pins and needles or stinging for a few seconds. Nowhere near as serious as that..
