If it was a general statement, you didn't have to quote me. Just sayin. I'm over it though, no need to reply.

Affligem Tripel - 97 at RateBeer. Had a affligem tripel the other day because kasteel was sold out. I don't care what rate a beer says...this thing tasted like all the other high abv beers.

Blue Moon and Fat Tire are pretty good for their price tier (US).

I absolutely DESPISED blue moon when I initially had it...110 beers from around the world later, it wasn't so bad. Like I had a Samuel Smith Oatmeal stout, and I hated it. Guess my palate keeps changing.

My regard for Blue Moon has followed a similar curve.

Okay, but what do you like? Back on topic...I haven't had anything new. Been too broke/cheap to try something different.

I'm drinking some Indian IPA, not idea what IPA actually is, but it's pretty nice.

I really don't know much about beer but I've been ordering Sapporo (a Japanese beer) lately while at restaurants. So smoothe tasting, not bitter at all but still has that amazing beer flavor. I don't know how you're supposed to describe beer. =(

The most delectable beer I've ever tasted is Bitches Brew, by Dogfish Head:

It's a fusion of three unique beers, meant to mimic the fusion of the Miles Davis classic. One contained gesho, which I had to look up...apparently it is bittering agent used in countries where hops aren't native (or are less abundant).

Tastes like caramel, cocoa, and honey.

Besides that, I enjoyed all the Unibroue's I've tried (only a small fraction though)...except Terrible. Despite Spart's claims of it being amazing, I thought that stuff was just downright terrible.

Of those, my favourite was probably La Fin Du Monde, a blonde ale.

I'll try anything once. As long as it isn't IPA. Because, YUCK.

EDIT: Recently I tried a dandelion flavoured beer (Magic Hat, spring seasonal) and I was super excited about it, but it wasn't as special as I thought it would be. Good though, very crisp. I'll stick to good old Heart of Darkness from now on.

Not the best maybe, but damn good.
I'd been saving just one in the fridge for so long, but now that I've popped it open all I want is more.

      Bell's Special Double Cream Stout:

I did not take this photo though, and now I'm disappointed that mine didn't achieve such a sexy head. I likes me a good head on a beer.

The best head is thick, delicious, and long-lasting. That's the trifecta.

When it comes to good beer head, Guinness wins hands down for me. There's simply nothing else like it.

A nice foamy head does look good and very appetizing... but TBH I'd rather go without.

But anyway, I want to try that Bitches Brew you mentioned earlier. I haven't been very adventurous lately and have simply been bouncing between two of Weyerbacher's stouts (Tiny, Old Heathan). I'm not sure how available their beers are as their a local brewery here.

I did pick up something different little bit ago and bought some more the other day because I really liked it. Another local-ish company (Free Will Brewing), though I had never heard of them before trying 'COB' (Coffee Oatmeal Brown Ale). I couldn't even find a google picture of a poured glass of COB, so I imagine they're not readily available outside my area. But Weyerbacher might be. At least Old Heathen. Tiny I buy by the case from the brewery, and they tell me it's not distributed to very many places.

Basically I just like the dark beers. Black coffee in the morning, black beer in the evening. But this COB... it's black coffee AND black beer. Maybe I'll snap a picture if I decide to pour a second glass.

Edit: and here we are. A bit of head is nice, but that's all I need.

      Mmmm, beer porn.

Bitches Brew isn't set to be released til September of this year, and if you want to find it the easiest way is through their website because it will tell you where it has been shipped in the last 60 days.

I'd like to try all of their "Ancient Ales", but so far I've only had:

      and

The descriptions are a little wtf, and they're kinda pricey...but the tastes are just so complex and unique.

      Next on my list is

This one particular description of it really made my mouth water: "tasted very much as it smelled--spicy chai--but with a bit of earthy, honeyed-sweetness that swelled through the clove and ginger taste. I’m not familiar with juniper, but I can only assume that sweetness comes from the berries."

Only have to drive 37 miles to get some!

      Aah - hahaa!
This gives me the opportunity to recycle a post from my dartsforum, which has a thread just like this. That's to be expected - darts and beer are very good buddies indeed. Just needed to change the smilies - here goes - I went to school in the same building where the brewery is:

Quote Originally Posted by steph View Post

This now really carries me off - your fault!

This is my absolute favourite beer - a 'special' brew - some more twirls...

The normal one is not bad as well - since some years the 'Tegernseer Spezial' became all the rage and one can even buy it in Berlin and outside of Germany.

The beer of my Bavarian youth - it is really good - a lot of people agree. Munich has tons of breweries of it's own, and it was voted close second there, in some sort of poll, after "Augustiner Edelstoff", last I knew about such things.
Not a Pils sort of beer.

The rather small brewery is a bit more than 1000 years old - it belonged to an old Benedictine monastery which got bigger, when some duke or other went for summer residence there.
It is directly by a lake in a valley in the mountains...
The brewery is still there - together with church and higher school (secular - thank reason!) - the school I went to.
Over time more and more tourism unfortunately - or fortunately - depends who you ask.

Back then, it was not as neatly renovated and there were much less tables outside.
This is one side of a square-structure building:

And this is what you can get in the 'Bräustüberl'.
Except that is a different sort of brew which is served in these glasses - the 'Helles Weißbier' which is nice with "Weißwürscht" white sausages - they "have to" be eaten before noon or maximally some rather not long time after, traditionally, from the time without fridges:

Inside - original "as it always was" - after a rather fresh painting - it used to get deep brownish from smoke and all - around noon probably:

I guess, I sat at all of these tables - you have to imagine, this is the same building-complex as our school. I wasn't one of those playing sick and going there, when lessons got boring, but...

This is an age-old cartoon in deep Bavarian dialect hanging on a wall:

It says approximately: "now where is he again, the Buzi; the rascal, that miserable maverick!"

By that opportunity I'll also nick part of a post of somebody else:

Punk IPA coz its very nice and for the label too which is awesome

And one more from the same source - I love the idea of these British fairy-tale beers - there's more, with hobgoblins and stuff:

Betty Stogs is my tipple of the moment

Betty Stogs was a Cornish woman in a folktale. She lived on moorland near Towednack. She had a six-month old baby but was lazy and dissipated. The neglected baby was cared for by the fairies, who returned it clean and laid upon a bed of moss.
Doesn't sound as if she deserved a beer of her own - but there goes...

^^Hmm smells like an opened bottle of aged beer Haha Once I dared to ask a friend of mine about which was the best beer in Germany, and his answer was something like "Dude, there are so many god damn good brewery here that possibly it'd be impossible to taste all of them to know which one is the best".. I liked some Polish beer though, although I don't remember what was its name... There were so many!!!

Be careful, there's a girl called cerveza who's trying to fool ya...

Right now it's Trader Jose's brand (Trader Joe's) dark beer. Made in Mexico. $4.99 for sixpack. Light-ish, but still plenty of flavor.

Also, anything not american. I can't believe you people can drink 2-3% alcohol beer.

If you've never had Leffe, (I prefer the brown but the blonde is also quite good,) you're missing out. If I am going to go with a lower alcohol content beer I'll grab a Killian's Red. But I prefer something with a strong alcohol flavor.

Made the trip out to the brewery to stock up on the seasonal brews... I've been enjoying the pumpkin ale since it hit the shelves a few weeks ago, but the other one is new to me. I tried a small sample at the shop, but I'll open my first bottle later.

I know this chick who limits herself to Natural Ice, and Natural Light. Every other day, I ask her about beers and she says all the other ones taste the same. Maybe I should be happy that she doesn't drink expensive stuff. But still...something inside has me cringing about that fact.
