Right. The discovery that they can actually kill you is pretty recent I believe. We used to collect them every mother's day at a log-cabin my family has in the middle of some back-country woods north of here. We get morels, too, but not nearly as many as the beefsteak.

It's not just those particular ones, but *any* mushroom that you do not know well, in a region that you haven't thoroughly studied for a long time, can easily be lethal.

My family members aren't ones to eat random mushrooms they find don't worry :3
These ones in particular have been thought to be fine, or we cook them right, or something. Then people found out they could be lethal, and we weren't allowed to eat them anymore
Maybe, given that we never ever got sick they might actually be safe where we find them? ARE there any places where it's safe to eat them?

Yeah we never even got tummy aches. From what I understand of this particular variety, it can be like a cup; it builds up and it's fine until you eat just one more than you can hold, and then you keel over. Or something. I might have that completely wrong. :/

Yeah man, I read a lot about the big red false morels. I almost ate some just to know what it tasted like, in fact I took a bunch home, but I decided it wasn't worth the risk even-though the toxicity is accumulative. I did pickle some Devil's Urn, though. Can't say I'll do that again.

The garden is coming along. All borders and fence posts installed.

I'll be putting stepping stones in between the two borders.

I had to pack everything from my dorm room into my car for the summer. Usually I have a lady from my church store some of the bigger items for me, but they were doing construction in the storage area, so I had to take everything except my fridge. I have no idea how I got it all in, to be honest. I don't think there was another cubic inch of space available in the car that wasn't in my lap.

Notice the hole so I can see through the rear view mirror. Safety first, of course!

      Spoiler for funstuff:

And to top it all off I spotted a rainbow!

...Turns out it had a veeeery faint twin that I was sadly unable to capture with this camera. I saw it while out running errands, and at the same time I got a text from Ray saying it was arching RIGHT over top of my apartment building.

So they made me the Class Secretary of Defence.

Went to the Goodwill for the first time aaaaages, and remembered why I stopped going there so often. Even though I made out like a bandit, that place really hits my impulse buy button way too hard!

      I bought these for .59¢ a piece:

They are all great, but the Selfish Giant made me cry at the end...

Also these, for .79¢ a piece:
