      Love my job but.....

We have to gather grocery carts five to six at a time and haul them back and forth. We don't have a special machine like Walmart does and we are a major outdoor retailer. For the past two days I've been assigned on cart retrieval duty and those things are heavy when there are five or more! I don't know what the special machine Walmart uses to help its employees is called, but almost every single major retail store except us has one. And when I say major, I mean it. It's probably #1 or #2 on rankings for outdoor sales.

My hand is extremely sore and I'm not normally one to complain about pain. But this is ridiculous that we can't have one of those machines to help us.

I think your best option would be just to live with it and make the best of it. The job will likely be easier and less painful once you get stronger.

Your hand will live, mon-ami. Just keep it clean.

I have no clue what you're talking about, so apparently none of the 'major' stores I go to have these machines. I just see people pushing huge lines of carts.

For what it's worth, whenever I go grocery shopping I stop at the entrance where you pick up a cart, pull out all my bags, and then carry them to my car, leaving the cart where I got it from. Dunno why, I've just always done that. I have to carry all the groceries into my house, so what difference does it make that I carry them to my car? Plus I strongly adhere to the 'put it back where you got it' mentality, and... that's where I got the shopping cart from.

Granted, if I were shopping for a full family, a single trip might not be feasible. But ANYWAY, quit your yapping and feel proud that you're working hard and earning your money. Generations before you worked far harder without the aide of our current technology, not to mention developing countries as posted above.

in particular with this part i totally agree with you. but i had to learn that most of the people dont life after this mentality. and i had to learn that i cant judge others by one's own standards.

That's life, maybe you should have paid attention in school... And don't call me condescending cause I'm a dishwasher so I'm bottom of the barrel too, but I realize I put myself here so I try not to complain about it, it's the job I have and that's what you can expect with that stuff, at least you have a job; those are hard to come by these days.

Talk to your boss, I guess. Either that or deal with it.
