So our school semester has ended, and me and my friends decide to have a (small) party for the end of the semester. Im getting a ride to my friend's place by my mother, and at a curve some idiot comes at the corner really goddamn fast, Im not even going to try to guess mph/kph. Anyway, he came around the corner sideways as we were approaching it. My mother swerved to the side and steped on the gas narrowly avoiding the guy. If she hadn't, us and the entire front end would've been gone. But, because of her quick reflexes, only the back bumper was unlucky.

Just thought I'd share. What I found surprising is that it didn't even phase me, nor did I seem to really think much of it.

Well done on your mother's part. It's really hard to think/maintain control in situations like that. My family was in a similar situation about a month ago...but unfortunately they got completely nailed by some asshole that ran a stoplight and my mom, dad, and 2 aunts and 2 uncles got to spend the night in the hospital. Oye. Some people are such idiots and horrible drivers it pisses me off. Anyways, glad you're alright.

edit: oh, and they were riding in a Suburban...probably the only reason they're still alive

Wow I know that was scary. I'm glad everyone is okay. I know that probably shook you up. I never been in an accident had quite a few close calls but I've seen some accidents and I can't even imagine the feeling. It's good you guys avoided it Major Kudo's to your Mother and her Snappy Reflexes.

Wow, lucky them. Im glad they were alrite! And thanks.

I agree. I dont know how some people manage to get their license. Its insane, there are so many bad drivers on the road that the fact that they even manage to pass their drivers test is baffling.

It makes sense. Sitting in a car driven by anyone that isn't yourself only feels safe if you trust and have confidence in the driver.
Glad to hear everything turned out well.

Did the guy even stop? I wonder if 'attempted hit-and-run' is a felony.
Glad to hear everyone was okay, but really, things like this piss me off. Someone is too stupid to drive correctly, nearly kills a parent and their kid, and just drives away.

      Wow, close call, Exo

Just goes to show that everything can change in a split second. Really puts things in perspective, doesn't it?

Yeah, he stopped thankfully, which was actually surprising considering the way he was driving. But yeah, he did.

Yeah really. It was really sudden. My mom was really shaken up, which is obviously more then understandable.

This is why more people need to drive tanks.

      Scene: Freeway (or something)
Ass Driver cuts in front of Tank.
Tank Driver (your mom?): We'll see about that, bitch!
Tank Driver accelerates, crushing Ass Driver.

That's not quite a tank, though.

Thank goodness your mom has good reflexes! Glad you all are OK.

My DH and I nearly hit a deer going 65 down the highway in October. Fortunately no one was behind us and I saw the deer out of the corner of my eye right before he dashed across the road. It didn't sink in until later just how bad it would have been to hit a buck at that speed in my tuner.

You just never know what's going to happen...
