      Melatonin help

      I just took a tablet that had 3mg Melatonin in it and 25mg Theanine in it. I could have sworn that a different brand labeled it 500mg melatonin in the store. Is 3mg enough? I am 15 by the way.

      3 mg is plenty to help get to sleep, and in fact any more will block REM sleep so you won't dream. The L-Theanine will help too, and it doesn't block REM. If you need something more powerful, get more L-Theanine to supplement the pill you're already taking. You can take 200 mg of L-Theanine without affecting REM... possibly more, not sure, but I know 200 mg is safe for REM.

      500mg of melatonin will probably make you very sick. It's not an overdose, but might cause flu-like symptons. You've never seen that, you might have seen 500ug. I usually take 3mg, 6 if I'm hyper.

      Thanks for the help. One more question: Can I take it every night, or is that bad? I read somewhere that your body will stop producing its own melatonin if you continually take the supplement.

      Yeah, it's best to only take it when you need it. Don't want to develop any kind of dependency if you can help it.
