      Please Help Supplement Guru's

      Here's the issue:

Im 40 and work as a busy IT manager in a major company. I get up at 4:30am - home by 6:30pm - do evening stuff until about 10:30pm. Read until 11:00-11:30 then sleep. I only have to go into the city on Tuesday thru Friday. Monday I work from home which with the weekend gives me three days to sleep in to 8-9:00am and practice WILD/WBTB.

I have a 40 minute train ride twice a day - in which I sometimes read and sometimes nap.

I have trouble dreaming - especially in the first part of the week. At the weekend I have loads of dreams. I also seem to get some Wednesday night and more on Thursday night

But Monday and Tuesday nights go dreemless almost every week. I know I dream - but can only remember fragements.

I thought using supplements might help - eg using 5mg Melotonie and/or 2-300mg 5-HTP would put me into deep sleep sooner with REM rebound hopefully before 4:30am.

Last night I took 300mg 5-HTP, 300 mg N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine - just slept solidly and dreamless and woke up feeling kind of spacey. I weigh 200 pounds by the way in case you are curious about dose vs body weight.

Im trying to get to a point where I can force more REM time in the mid week nights when I can only get 5 hours of sleep.

Maybe having 3 nights of a solid 8/9 hours of sleep and then suddenly dropping Monday night to 5 hours is screwing with my cycle?

Am I taking too many supplements and over shoorting ? Maybe im not taking enough and I need a larger dose to get some decent REM rebound after 3-4 hours.

There is no question that your sleep cycle is screwing things up. I would find activities that you do on the weeknights that you don't need to do, cut them out, and get more sleep.

It will be better for your health and your wallet than attempting a fix with supplements, which in this case will noticeably have any affect since you are not sleeping enough.
