Thumbs up First Lucid Dream in 5 Years!!!

I joined this site a long time ago and in that time managed to have a couple of lucid dreams. I somewhat lost interest in it and stopped remembering my dreams, but this morning I had my first lucid dream in 5 years. Even though it wasn't anything too special, I'm still soo happy!

      (taken from my Dream Journal)
      narration
      lucid
      dreaming

I dreamt that I was rollerblading through an area near my house right by this convenient store. There were some kids behind me and they were talking about someone I used to know, calling him scary and exaggerating characteristics about him. I started laughing out loud to taunt them because I know that the guy is totally harmless. Then I went into the convenient store from its back entrance in order to make my way through to the other side like a short cut. Before I left, the store clerk who was somewhere near my age started telling the kids who were trailing me that the guy they were talking about is harmless. He mentioned his ex-girlfriend and I told him that they broke up a few months ago and that he broke it off. I left the store and I started to wake up. At this point I became aware that I was dreaming and tried really hard to focus on staying in the dream, I heard a sound from the real world but simply imagined that it was a truck passing by on the road next to me. I woke up. (Looking back on it I think that this was a false awakening) Determined to make this work I forced myself back to sleep into the same dream, only this time I was slightly further away from the store. I was sitting on the sidewalk with the guy from the store and he was holding a book about lucid dreaming saying, telling me that I was dreaming. This time I actually got up and said, “Hey I’m dreaming!” but I could immediately feel that I was waking up. I got up and started rubbing my hands together, which didn’t feel fully real but I was able to feel a chalky texture in my hands. I’m not exactly sure what happened in-between, I either had a false awakening or was just transported to my room somehow, but the next thing I knew I was standing in my room to the left side of my bed, lucid but struggling not to wake up. I remember that behind me, where there is usually nothing, were some strange looking objects including a red triangle. Now this is the weirdest part. In an effort to stay asleep, I continued to rub my hands and thought, “hmm… maybe if I change something about the situation I can remain dreaming”. So I walked up to my door and said aloud, “There is a black room behind this door”. But when I opened the door there was no black room. There was the hallway to my brother’s room as there always is, but there was my brother standing there looking like a broken hologram. I’m not sure exactly how to explain this, but imagine as if there was some sort of futuristic holographic projection device displaying him, except it malfunctioned and he came out like some sort of pixely, flashing black silhouette. This kind of scared me, so I retreated back into my room. He started walking towards me like he would if he really was my brother, but it was insanely creepy because of how he looked. Then I started to loose my grip of the dream, things got really faded and I woke up.

I remember thinking, "Fuck, I should have tried spinning with my eyes closed!" But this never would have worked because this was a morning dream and something like the 5th one I had. But either way, I'm very happy because this is the first time in 5 years that I have had a lucid dream.

Nice job and after five years too was it a random one or did you try to have one?
"For a long time it gave me nightmares, having to witness an injustice like that. It was a constant reminder of how unfair this world can be, I can still hear them taunting him. 'Silly Rabbit, Trix are for kids!'... How come they just couldn't give him some cereal?"

It was after about 3 or 4 days of trying to become lucid and using melatonin
