Thank you all for your help. I think I made an important breakthrough of some kind

This thread refers back to an earlier one I started. Since I am new hear, I cannot link to it, but it was entitled "My Subconscious Is Frightened Of Me". In that topic, I referred to a block i was having regarding lucid dreaming. This thread shows how that discussion benefitted me almost instantly. I thought it was different enough and important enough for anyone having the same problem that it deserved it's own topic.

Anyway, after talking through the problem of my "frightened subconscious" with you folks, I had a very interesting experience last night. It was a fully lucid dream, my third since actually starting this study two months ago. It was very brief, but very powerful.

After the alarm went off this morning, I was lying in bed for a few minutes dozing, and fell into a half-dream state. I saw myself lying on my bed. The room around me had become a dreary, black and white scene. Flying above me on the bed was a fairy creature. He had a pear shaped body, was dressed like an Irish Leprechaun, and had two insect-like wings, that were beating more rapidly than the eye could see. He was maybe 18 inches tall, wearing a bowler hat, and hovering about a foot above me.

After a few seconds, he turned , and started to fly away. I called out to him in a friendly manner, "Hey, come back here." He immediately turned back around, and stood on my left forearm, watching my face. I asked him, "Can you help me lucid dream?"

The fairy-creature said nothing, but his body started to glow and spark, and he immediately started to sink into the flesh of my forearm, which also started to glow.

      At that point, I awoke.

I felt this was highly significant, and that I had achieved a major breakthrough between my conscious and subconscious minds, as if the two were finally willing to start communicating and working together, after many years of fighting. I am not sure exactly what it means, but I felt it was both positive and very important.

I would love to hear other's ideas on this experience.

Again, thanks to everyone for even the brief discussions had with me previously. I am also sure that those were very significant in bringing about this experience. I think this goes to show that, since lucid dreaming is 90% a subconscious experience, just being able to talk it out and speak about what you and others think regarding dreaming, symbols, blocks and other problems can be extremely helpful.

The only way to find out is to keep pushing forward, glad you found a resolution with your subconscious, still struggling with mine. Good luck!

Not wanting to exaggerate, but I really think this is an extremely important study.

How many people have killed, robbed, raped, and done all sorts of other evil and despicable things, only to say later "Why the f*** did I do that?"

The subconscious is the Land of Why The F***. Imagine if we could make peace with that kingdom. Can you think of anything better?

How you interpret your dream guide being able to give you that sense of unconditional love that can make you turn into an emotional blob (literally) because of how much frequency of energy the exhibit towards you, it's not really too surprising to presume that it must be divine acknowledgment.

But to remain practical, without going too far on the subjective side of it, I'd said you've met an entity that has a high frequency level than yourself, WAY higher, and that's common, and that is good, because you're finding entities that exhibit positive energy. Usually these types of beings have to decrease their frequency/energies in order to prevent us with lower frequencies to not get too excited and be saturated with strong emotions, etc.

Coming to an agreement with your subconscious, finally realizing that it's best to work together instead of against each other is truly something to treasure dearly to you. As for what could get better than that, it's up to the person. For me, having a sense of knowing that your dream guide is always there for you, finally filling the gaps you longed to be completed, experiencing unconditional love, I think that's my idea of a divine or heavenly experience.

And how open-minded the person is towards dreaming overall can even stronger potentials, that is, if you believe in the astral plane and beyond, meeting entities with higher frequencies to guide you to the right path, imagine knowing you can sleep at night, and receive respect and love, wake up in the morning, and can still feel those surges of strong emotions in waking life for days, weeks, months, even years, it can be a major self-boost in confidence.

And don't worry about exaggeration, it's good to have that kind of mentality, can bring out some good things if you know how to moderate it.

I tend to believe that such things are purely psychological, and that whether there are paranormal entities is very much open to question.

But that is a side issue, at least to me. My thoughts are, more or less, these:

      1. We live in a time on earth when instant communication of almost the whole knowledge of mankind is possible across planetary distances in virtually no time. This is incredible, if you think about it. When I was young, there was no internet. To get strange books on esoteric subjects could take weeks with an inter-ilbrary loan, if that was even possible. Now we can hit a few buttons on a key board, and discover and become reasonably educated on new areas of knowledge in almost no time. Thus did I learn about lucid dreaming, and the basics of how to attempt it.

      2. Now, compare that to any other time in mankind's history. Never before has it been possible to educate so many so quickly.

      3. Imagine if lucid dreaming, or something like it, could be communicated to a great portion of mankind, who is still a savage animal prepared to kill if his subconscious urges him to strongly enough. What if we could learn, as a people to deal with those impulses? To successfully combat the invading armies of the Land of Why the F***? Armies that have overcome us millions of times each, without us ever knowing we were at war?

Maybe this is a bit too emotional, but why not? The implications, IMHO, are staggering.

Yes, this cyber age has a lot of potential to educate many people, and it will only grow to be more efficient and faster. But there's also greater risk of people being provided the wrong information on lucid dreaming, and this can lead to others falling for potential scammers who guarantee lucidity if you buy their books, CDs, etc. Which means greater emphasis on providing them decent and free knowledge on the matter must be sustained.

For #3, correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems you're associating this with a universal collective consciousness, where we all become aware that we all could be connected in the universe and beyond. That may not happen for a long time, but if it does, it will surely cause a huge paradigm shift in mentality of dreaming and beyond.

Also, the principle can apply to an individual, if they can use lucid dreaming to access the genetic history of their ancestors, and learn that the reason why we occasionally do things without knowing where it came from could be the collective memory of our ancestors making their skills, attributes, knowledge, etc. manifest. The part of your subconscious that decided to come out, even when you didn't expect to to come out.

Yes, the potential really is something to behold, and hopefully factors like religion, social norms, etc. won't be used to try and challenge that.

Those urges, those rudimentary temptations that are often repressed (because we don't have to actually work to get our prey, as in, hunt and kill, be efficient and conservative of our resources), they have the potential to be expressed, but of course, those are things that have been repressed generations and generations ago. Who knows?

As long as people take lucid dreaming as something they have to experience themselves, and to not rely too much on other people's views on it, they will find their own personal enlightenment, and who knows what can come from that?

Very much so, and this is also certainly the age of charlatan gurus, whether lucid dreamers or of any other type. We had Carlos Castaneda, who probably plagiarized the whole Don Juan series, and then definitely used his fame to go spiritually crusing for young babes, Osho, who stockpiled guns outside Seattle and tried to poison the locals with Botulism, Chogyam Trungpa who ran his ashram like a brothel and ended up spreading AIDS among his followers. Whether he ever got it himself is problematic, but his #1 disciple certainly did.

It amazes me that so many New Agers see Christians as frauds, when their ranks are equally full of interesting types.

That I'm not sure about. However, I tend to be very pragmatic about this stuff. Way too often, people who get into experiences like lucid dreaming seem to have a tendency to charge off after any and every wild and whacky belief, and often get themselves into things that can hurt them, like psychedelic drugs, predatory gurus, etc.

I look at all of this stuff simply as mental phenomena. The mind is a vast universe all on it's own, so I am very scrutinizing before I accept anything beyond it as an explanation. The mind is also very powerful, and can make things that are quite miraculous happen.

So I guess my point is simply that it is wonderful enough that we have the opportunity to learn what we do. Collective consciousness or not, humanity could only benefit from greater understanding of the subconscious. Getting to know the man behind the mirror, so to speak.

I agree with you completely. I will even go so far as to say that too many New Agers are themselves fundamentalist and dogmatic in what they believe. For example, there seems to be an almost universal idea that the violent side of our nature (Jungian shadow, or whatever it really is) is somehow repulsive. But it seems to me that there is enormous power there that, if redirected, could probably be extremely beneficial, like a properly controlled nuclear reactor, as opposed to an atom bomb.

      Just my thoughts.
