Had a sense of "being there" but couldn't see me

My dream didn't have any exciting scenery or action because all I recall is a dark-ish yellow-beige-ish colour and nothing else. I was "there" but I didn't see me, not my hands, not anything. Like I was in the dark except it wasn't all black around me but the colour I described.

Anyway, so somehow without doing any RC (how could I, there was no way to do it) I somehow knew I was dreaming and tried to rub my hands and say "Increase clarity". Nothing happened. I was a little uneasy, I guess I still become uneasy when I realize I'm dreaming, but that was the first time I have ever dreamt of attempting any DC. Nothing happened. I recall somehow alternating between trying to wake myself up and not doing so. I don't remember actually waking myself up in the end. It all just ended on its own. Oh, and I may or may not have tried to spin around. Although I didn't see myself I could still feel myself, not that I touched myself to see if I was there, but I felt my hands rubbing together and possibly myself spinning awkwardly.

So yeah... Now I just wonder, how to "see" myself and anything when I don't? I tried Increase Clarity but what clarity was that supposed to have increased? The beige-ness?

Sometimes you find yourself in a dream state where it seems like REM hasn't quite "kicked in." I've experienced this myself and have seen descriptions of it in other people's DJs as well. Sometimes during this state the physical sensations are very distinct, and you might even hear sounds clearly, but the visual component is lacking.

Attempting to "increase clarity" can be helpful when your visuals are just a bit fuzzy or out of focus, but if you're not getting any visuals at all, then there's not much clarity to increase! The best thing to do in these situations is probably just to focus on the sensations that you are experiencing, even if they are not visual, and explore the dream with your other senses. If you can maintain lucidity long enough, the visuals often kick in eventually! And if not, there's no reason to feel disappointed. You've just had a really interesting and unusual experience in itself!

Waking up from deep sleep I find myself having similar experiences and a sense of being home. I love the experience it's very comforting.

I wish I could just not stress when I get lucid and take things slowly, but I just want to start flying already! If it happens again I'll try to just focus on the sensations, or at the very least remember to try that.
