      Unhappy woke up crying?!

Ironically enough I was on this site earlier tonight and fell asleep browsing on it (thx to the luxury of having my laptop in bed).
Needless to say I woke up crying. This is not extremely rare for me and I was wondering if it happens to anyone else? For me it results from extremely vivid and disturbing dreams. In the past I have wondered about the possibility of reincarnation/pastlives etc just based on dreams I have experienced. The logic behind this was that in no way was I conjuring up these thoughts / images / themes etc from my own experiences or curiosities!
      Thoughts?
And should I be checking out a therapist or something? haha sometimes I wonder..

It seems you're not familiar with the ways of the dreaming mind... have you read Exploring the World of Lucid Dreams? If not you ought to... there's nothing supernatural or uncanny going on... in dreams we just experience intensified emotions. And dreams don't have to come from your own experiences or curiosities... the subconscious mind is far bigger and more powerful than the conscious part (ever heard of the "tip of the iceberg" analogy?) and it conjures up crazy stuff like you could never think of in the mere unimaginative conscious state. Do you know what dream schemas are? If not then you owe it to yourself to get the book and you'll understand what's been going on in your head.

I have woken up crying sometimes. You're fine. As far as if reincarnation is real, you need to decide that for yourself.

Yes I need to read/learn more of the dreaming mind. Just call me not-so-sharpie til then
And also figure out my belief system.
Haha. I havent pondered too much of that since.. just thought I'd mention the re-incarn thing cause I was often that shocked as a teenager that I questioned everything as a result.
I am not a particularly emotional person in real life so these episodes can even be entertaining for me from time-to-time. (however not so much so for my poor boyfriend)

Basically during REM sleep (which is when we dream) the Limbic system of the brain is activated. This is where emotions come from, and in sleep it has no controls on it as it does in waking life, so it can get very intense. Dreams are often accompanied by intense emotions, and when you remember the dreams in the morning it can be ridiculous... like you found a cookie and laughed insanely, or you broke a nail and wanted to kill yourself. These emotions can carry over when you wake up.

I would definitely recommend getting ETWOLD (the book I mentioned above). Not only if you're interested in lucid dreaming... it just contains so much incredible information that I actually got mad this stuff isn't taught in schools all around the world!!!

Dream emotions. Yeah, they are like combination emotions, but intensified.

I have experienced a few such as: Terror and delight

      Fear and fascination

      Rage and sorrow

      Awe and love

But, these words don't really do anything to describe them that well.

I have had dreams where the emotions carried over. One that I remember clearly is when I broke my bird's neck somehow and he was looking up at me with these sad eyes. Broke my heart in that dream and I think I was crying in it, not IRL though

      Lol, Nomad, you're on fire.

It has happened to me before due to an unfortunate situation in the dream.

I woke up crying once. It was odd. In the dream, I was holding an army rifle and I began weeping bitterly over the death of one of my brothers-in-arms, who I assume was KIA. I woke up and I was still distraught.

I've woken up with tears sometimes, but never full out crying XD. Anyways, I had a question like this to when I signed up for this site. Someone responded with the thought that they experienced dreams on a less intense level than in real life... Is that just how their mind works or is it just a freak accident from dream to dream?
