      Thanks Lezen

Does anyone know if such a word as Niada (knee-ah-dah) exists and what it means?
I had a dream about that word decades ago and I woke up certain it was supposed to mean something. I thought I heard it somewhere and incorporated it into my dream. So, I've always wondered if it was a real word...

I learned Spanish in high school... didn't even really pay attention in grade 12 spanish as much as show up completely stoned out of my tree. Yet, when we went on our grad trip to Puerta Vallarta I was having 15-20 minute conversations at a time... made two friends down there. Then when I started working construction there were Mexicans everywhere and I made three really good friends who I'd practice hours of spanish with a day... eventually becoming fluent.

I speak Danish and English fluently

I understand most Norwegian and Swedish, as they are very similar to Danish. I've had 3 years of French and I've learned a tiny bit of several languages, including dutch, german, esperanto and latin.

I would really like to learn Japanese and Finnish (both seem like funny languages), as well as Latin and Esperanto. On top of that I would like to finish creating my own language (I don't spend enough time working on it... a shame, really).

But really, there are so many languages I would like to learn, simply because I like to learn new things... Icelandic, Gaelic, French, Russian, Spanish........

      I speak:
      English - native speaker
Russian - general understanding but low fluency. I'm going there for a year, so this will change.
Spanish - some fluency, but not "fluent."

      I want to learn:
Japanese - "Everything I know about Japanese I learned from TV..." But seriously, I want to learn to speak it properly.
Gaelic - If I ever have time to learn it, it would be fun
Persian, Swahili, and Norwegian - to round out my life-goal of knowing a language from most major language groups.

Native American English speaker here. I'm taking Spanish currently, but the class is progressing at an agonizingly slow rate. This is my third year of it, but the first not to be accelerated. We have three teachers that can teach Spanish: one of them's a bitch, another is a fun, type A personality and one of my favorite teachers, and the other used to do advanced placement stuff, but had to pick up a couple more English classes after an English teacher died. I can speak, read, and write enough to understand what's going on and communicate, or at least get the general idea, but I'm nowhere near as fluent as a native speaker.

French can go to hell in my opinion. France and Quebec are the only places that I really need to worry about, and Quebec is bilingual.

German is of a major interest to me. Germany is renown for its engineers, and I'm likely to be involved in the field of engineering as a career. If I'm in a global company that does a lot of engineering, German is going to come in handy. The fact that there is almost no such thing as the longest word in German is also amusing. I'm told by a friend of my dad's that took German that he can't see how the Germans can do math, since saying big numbers is so cumbersome.

I was once interested in Japanese, but I don't feel like learning a language that uses a whole different alphabet system. And the fact that it's literally a world apart from anything I've ever learned is also kind of discouraging.

      I speak English.
I understand spanish to the point of being able to read it pretty well, though I have had little experience with listening to spanish.

I would like to learn Japanese and French.

I have just started learning Chinese as part of my Uni course. I feel it's going to be a long road haha. If anyone feels like helping me, I'd appreciate it haha.

I know some basic French, I can read it well, but can't speak or listen well at all.

German and Spanish, both from Latin America and from Spain. Is there a difference? I think so...

I speak English, and know a little more Spanish than people who've never taken a class do, but not much. I can count in Russian (to 5...) and am currently trying to learn Japanese.

I can speak English and Punjabi, understand Hindi (can't speak it), and I can kind of understand French. I probably wouldn't understand someone who was speaking it but if I were to read something in French, I might be able to get the gist of it.

      Malayalam - Fluent (native language)
      English - Fluent
Hindi - Can speak, but my grammar sucks
Tamil - Can understand (somewhat), can't speak

It's strange that I don't know more than 5 words in Kannada, the language of the state where I've been living for the past 6 years. I'd like to learn, but I'm lazy.

I have always wanted to learn German. I love the way it sounds plus my Oma used to speak it and I idolized her as a child. The past couple of years I have learned it on and off, just teaching myself( listening to tapes, researching it ect) but not consistently, that being said I feel I know more German then French( I had to learn French starting in grade 4). However I could not carry on a conversation with people. I love practicing the words trying to mimic the way they sound. I also feel it's like a puzzle and it feels good when the pieces start to fit together. I don't think I will ever be fluent but it is fun for me, kinda like a hobby.

Ik kann nikt Nederlands spreken, or something.

Anyway, I am obviously fluent in Swedish, and I am also very comfortable with English.
I have some knowledge in a bunch of different languages, like Spanish, German and Japanese, at least enough to understand easier sentences without too much problem.
      I have also considered learning Finnish and Russian, and have become somewhat familiar with the grammar;
I haven't really started out for real yet though, since I am too busy with math and physics at the moment, but I might start when I have finished those goddamn exams that I will have in a few months.

Come to think of it, I have also been interested in Dutch, mainly because I would like to understand what Tim Post in saying in his Dutch-speaking Lucidipedia videos on YouTube.

      Cool

I am already quite proficient in English, even among my fellow native speakers.

I am currently taking Spanish IV in high school and will take AP Spanish next year. I am arguably the top kid in my class. Even the native speakers ask me for help.

I want to learn Old English because it is a badass language. Ever heard Beowulf read in Old English?

I want to learn Irish because it's awesome, makes no sense to a non-speaker, and I take pride in my Irish ancestry.

I want to learn Japanese because uguumottokawaiibakadesudesumasu~ (I'm a Japanophile.)

      Speak:
      - Spanish as native language.
      - English, I understand more than I can express myself.
      - Learning German due to those things of life, at least I won´t get lost in the city
      - I can deal with Italian and Portuguese at a basic level because of my Spanish.
      Want to learn:
      - Russian and French by now. Although I would like to learn Japanese and perhaps some other Asian language in the future.

I can speak Arabic very well. I learned it at a language school on Monterey, CA. Spent a few months in Morocco.
