      Paranoia...

So before I start, I would like to say that I'm not one of those crazed lunatic people who can't maintain a conversation because they are paranoid. I'm perfectly healthy. But some things have been bothering me on a psychological level.

Typically this happens when I'm alone or by myself. But I will start randomly having these horrific thoughts, like just now I walked by the tv and this thought kept nagging me that a person was in the actual TV and was gonna started banging from the inside of the tv begging me to let it out. Or like if you've ever seen those "awesome car commercials" videos on YouTube and instead a big ugly face will appear instead and scream terribly loud. Well I get certain thoughts like all my vision will go blind and this terrible face will be the only thing I see and a loud screaming will burst my eardrums. I think it's beginning to affect my dreams too. Last night my friend electrocuted me until I "died" in a dream. Anyway some feedback and advice would be helpful to my situation.
      I'm always happy.

This sounds like the result of anxiety to me. The thoughts you described - if they were dreams they would definitely be anxiety dreams. You should probably work on finding the source of your anxiety.

(thanks for the quick reply I JUST posted this thread) I think your right about it being more over anxiety than paranoia, but when it happens it usually lasts for circa 30 minutes. Then I don't hear from it for a week or so. I specifically recall my cousins traumatically scaring me when I was younger and. Since then anytime I get scared I get scared out of my mind.

Heh yeah, I was sitting there watching Live Posts and saw it come up.

Sounds like that's probably it exactly. I hate to keep saying this to people, but you should probably talk to somebody about it. I don't mean "You're crazy and need to see a shrink!" - just talk to a psychologist or therapist or something. It's hard if not impossible to work these things through alone, though I'm sure it can be done if the problem isn't too severe. If it gets any worse then you should DEFINITELY talk to somebody. Think of it as preventative maintenance - getting a checkup before that knocking sound under the hood suddenly becomes a blown piston.

Awesome thanks for the help, I see where you getting at with the whole "see a therapist" thing. I don't personally think it's so severe so I'm just gonna talk it out with some close friends and hopefully things will work themselves out, but should things get worse or as you say, if I "blow a piston" I will seek therapy.

Yeah, it sounds like it's not too bad at this point. You might consider something like meditation. Sorry, I don't know what else to suggest. I'd stay away from drugs if I were you - pot can mellow some people out, but if you have anxiety it will only make it worse - even if at first it makes you feel better, eventually it will do a Jeckle/Hyde turn on you.

Also exercise. Endorphins that are released from exercise are the best possible way to mellow out.

Yea not much of a drug user. I wanted to post my thoughts here about it first while its still not a big problem so that I could get a helpful response. As far as meditation goes, I probably need to start looking into that more because I don't meditate but once in a blue moon.

Next time it starts take some deep and relaxing breaths to see if you can nip it in the bud. I believe that anxiety is often caused by a lack of oxygen, so I second what Darkmatters said about exercise.

Don't get me wrong. When these things happen I have to where I can keep my physical body under control. My breathing never drastically (or subtly) changes. I do think it is anxiety, but not the "hypo/hyper ventilating anxiety" like I said it's really all in my head I don't actually SEE these terrible things happen except in my dreams. But since I just naturally visualize all my thoughts it just makes it that much worse...

I'm paranoid too, always have been, and I get similar thoughts to yours throughout the day! MAN I'm SO glad I'm not alone! I often get paranoid about WILDs too (well, the hallucinations, anyway). As a little girl, I walked down the stairs with a hand on my back, just to be sure nobody would be behind me trying to push me. I still freak out at the sound of a toilet flush. I freak out at mirrors, white noise on tv, noise on the radio.. I also take comments by others extremely personally.

It doesn't translate to my dreams though, although I was afraid to jump out of a window in my last lucid dream.. ..I mean.. ..you never know.. I knew 100% that I was dreaming and wouldn't get hurt, much less die. ..but still.. ..paranoia stopped me right there.

I sometimes worried I suffered from schizophrenia, for hearing voices at night. Turns out I spontaneously go into the Hypnogogic Hallucinations phase without intending to, and the voice was part of that.
