      changes notification

What are ways to get notifications for any changes in SQL server? Does windows have a system that will let you notify if there's a specific error going on in the SQL server?

I use MySQL under Linux and have been using both Syslog Watcher (Windows) and Graylog (Linux) to manage and provide intelligent reporting/alerting of specific log entries/errors. I imagine, that with a bit of configuration and testing, one of those may work for MS SQL as well. ...I'm not much of a Windows guy, so it's possible that someone with a little more of a MS background may have a better solution.

Would a solution like this Powerbroker also do the trick? That's what my boss is considering to get.

I am not familiar with that application. At a glance, it appears to be some sort of security auditing utility. I don't see anything SQL-specific listed in the product description.
