      Failed attempt

      Hi guys,

I have been trying to WILD for a while, as well as DILD. I go to sleep at around 11pm and my alarm wakes me up at 3am. I usually end up going straight back to sleep, no matter what I do. I also don't seem to have dreams when I do this, does anyone have some help?

      Cheers, Max.

      Hello,

Firstly four hours sleep isn't really enough to attempt WILD'ing; that is why you are going straight back to sleep because you haven't had enough non-REM deep sleep. Exhaustive research has shown that six hours is the optimum amount for most people before attempting to WILD. However, there are people that will say five, seven, or eight hours sleep is the optimum time for them. I would suggest that as you go to sleep at around 11pm to then set your alarm for 5am. You do have dreams in those four hours of sleep, you just haven't trained yourself to remember them yet. You need to start keeping a dream journal. When I started doing this I would wake up and couldn't remember any dreams. I would lay there in the same position for five minutes with the intention of attempting to remember dream memories. Sometimes they would just suddenly come to me. On the occasions that they didn't I would get up and immediately sit down and open my dream journal to write down that I couldn't remember any dreams. Sometimes when I wrote that I couldn't remember any dreams suddenly memories of dreams would come to me! Also once you have some dreams recorded read through them again every morning as this can trigger dream recall. Also read through your journal before going to bed Keeping a dream journal is crucial for substantial success for most people wanting DILD's or MILD's.

Yes, I have kept a dream journal for several months now, which is why it is odd that I don't remember the dreams. I originally set the alarm for 5, but changed it for some reason.

      Thanks!

Sorry for assuming that you hadn't started keeping a dream journal. Are you reading your journal at the start and end of the day?
