      WILD attempts

Over the past view months I have grown quite fascinated by the topic that is Lucid dreaming, the WILD technique was the first method of obtaining lucidity that I began to attempt. I've done a lot of my reading and researching here at dreamviews and would like to share the results of my WILD attempts with the forum in the hopes that I might receive some beneficial feedback from the more experienced WILD'ers.

Anyways the majority of my failed WILD attempts tend to go something like this:

I lay down comfortably, close my eyes, and begin counting each breath that I take. Eventually my body becomes numb, this is generally the first sensation that I feel. I attempt to stay focused on the black screen in front of me as I watch a wide variety of HI, ranging from flashes of white light to random images that pop up and then vanish. Usually if I manage to stay aware my chest begins to feel compressed and breathing seems difficult. I also will become unable to feel my arms or legs and I often forget where exactly they are laying, there have been times where I feel like my fist is clenched even though I know its not, or that my hands are resting on my chest when they are at my sides. I sometimes experience a sudden wave of what I feel like is excitement even though I do not feel excited. I never move throughout the wide variety of sensations that my body undergoes. I never have been able to enter a dream or roll out of my body during all my attempts. In general what happens is that I will jump to alertness at a certain point. My body will still be numb but I won't be able to get anywhere else from this point. It's at this point that I feel much to awake to continue the WILD or I perform a Reality Check which says that I am not dreaming.

I don't know if I am doing somthing wrong, or perhaps waiting to long and missing the moment when lucidity is available or not waiting long enough. Or perhaps I am doing it right and it is just a matter of time before I succeed, I do not know.

The rest of my WILD attempts in which I focus more on the sleep aspect of the WILD (thus less attention devoted towards staying aware in hopes that my body will fall asleep before my brain loses consciousness) result in me falling asleep.

I have however had one successful DEILD and one short DILD since I began exploring Lucid dreaming, both of which I enjoyed greatly.

I would like to be able to WILD eventually however. If anyone has any advice or knowledge to offer, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'd lightly read over it, I think examining it a little more in depth has helped me understand Mzzkc's concept better however, which I think stands a good chance of me achieving a WILD sooner than I would have. Thanks ClearView

I tried some more WILD and just fell asleep and failed to bring my consciousness in it. If I focus on being awake I am awake for hours, if I focus on sleep I sleep. I don't know how to bring my consciousness in it...
