What I discovered is that it has no effect on my body. I was able to easily slip back into that light sleep (or maybe I never exited it). I've used this to try to not let little things that may happen (such as twitches or swallowing) not bother me, although I mostly remain completely motionless.
I've done similar experiments in the past a couple of times during periods where I found myself conscious while still in light NREM. I was curious if I could make gentle shifts in body position or even briefly crack my eyes open and look into my room without disturbing my state of sleep, and tried it. As far as I could tell, I was easily able to do so without pulling myself (too much) back toward wakefulness. I even tried talking once, though it seemed difficult for some reason (I was unable to conclude with certainty whether it was in fact physically difficult or if I was just afraid to push my luck and wake myself up).

This supports the idea that people really shouldn't worry about small things like swallowing or minor adjustment in position during a WILD dive; as long as one doesn't put much thought or attach any concern or significance to them, it should be fine. Just let them be as natural as those same actions that you do nearly unconsciously while falling asleep normally without trying to WILD.

Hello Sageous. I have been lurking on this forum for a long time. And your teachings have gotten me farther in weeks than years of trying to "induce sleep paralysis"and all the other nonsense teachings force fed to us questers for our inner worlds...
I finally made an account and wanted to address you directly because my situation is becoming hopeless, at least i feel. So i found the most recently used convo to ask this : is there a way to PM you, so i can ask more personal questions?
I would very much appreciate. Thank you sir.

^^ Just use DreamView's Private Message function to PM me, and I'll respond if I can. However, I do have two Q&A threads on this forum:

      Lucid Dreaming Fundamentals, with Q&A

      WILD According to Sageois Q&A

... I'm a bit more comfortable with the forum format, so I'd prefer you asked your questions in one of these spots, but if it's truly personal, then PM away, and I'll answer if I'm able!

I'm happy to know I was already of some help, though!

I still haven't been able to reenter a dream I woke up from. I have taken a break from it the past couple of nights.

However, last night, I had a couple more of those LDs where I randomly regain consciousness while sleeping in bed and instinctively enter a dream by sinking through my bed. I am not sure how I know with such confidence and accuracy I can enter a dream. Maybe it is the loader than usual tinnitus and/or that sleepy feeling, but regardless, I seem to be pretty comfortable with the OBE route of entering a dream.

In the DEILD tutorial, it says,
LaBerge suggests simply “rising” out of your frozen sleep body and walking right into the new dream; if you can do that without suffering delusions of OBE, then go for it -- it’s a good plan.
I think I could do this without suffering delusions of OBE.

This all gives me some ideas. I think I'll go into trial and error mode tonight to see if I can find a way to sink or fly or walk or pop back into a dream once I get to the point during a dive where I can enter a dream.

On a side note, one time when I was in a void, I mentally called out "I want to see" and immediately popped into a dream. Maybe using commands would be another way of entering a dream. Actually, now that I think about it, I can recall several times during WILDs where I have used commands to enter a dream. I've used commands like "Dream #1 (I instinctively knew I had a choice of a number of dreams)" "OK. I'm ready (after noticing HI before I even got comfortable)" and "Blast off!(after counting down from 10)". Maybe I could consistently use commands to enter dreams. Something else to try.

This is fun! I'm looking forward to tonight

^^ That sounds like a good plan(s); Of course I have another thought that I may have already mentioned:

This all gives me some ideas. I think I'll go into trial and error mode tonight to see if I can find a way to sink or fly or walk or pop back into a dream once I get to the point during a dive where I can enter a dream.
Don't forget, also, to remember your last dream.

When doing a DEILD, you aren't so much returning to your last dream, physically or symbolically, as you are keeping your last dream with you during the seconds that you are awake so that you can most easily resume dreaming, lucidly, in general. By keeping your last dream with you, simply by remembering it, you are allowing a connection with your dreaming mind to continue, making it much easier to resume LD'ing after you return to sleep. In other words, during a DEILD you aren't going anywhere at all; you are staying.

This may run contrary to the instruction in my DEILD session, where I think I focused on mechanical-seeming/forward-motion actions, like "returning," in my wording, and probably didn't give enough attention to memory and holding onto your last dream rather than "move" back toward it. I'm still not sure I needed to do so, since it's better to keep the process as simple as possible, but in your case it seemed worth mentioning.

      Good luck with your experimenting!

Last night, I had a LD by sinking into my bed upon waking up from a dream. I would say it was a DEILD but I'm not sure I woke up. However, I did have the familiar ringing in my ears and sleepy feeling while in bed. I didn't try to enter the dream I woke up from. Last night, I had some nightmares which I wasn't exactly motivated to return to.

Trying to stay in the dream rather than go back to it makes sense. I think I just have to figure out how to maintain the motivation/intention to keep remembering the dream and maintain the expectation that DEILDing this way will work. I think it would be a good exercise for me to imagine myself still in the dream upon waking up no matter what happens. Perhaps expecting nothing would be better than expecting that it won't work. I think even returning to a dream non-lucid a few times would help me expect that DEILDing this way would work for me. I'll try this tonight.

That is a very good idea, and not just because it's how I do it !

I think of it in terms of knowing that the dream hasn't ended yet, and that I'll be right back in it in a few seconds. It also helps to add something to the dream, maybe a plot twist or inventing some unfinished business relevant to the dream I just left. This way you're not remembering in the abstract -- which is difficult at best during the groggy moments of pre-awakening -- but rather accessing memory just like you would in waking-life, which does the double duty of keeping you in touch with your dream and encouraging your dreaming mind to keep the plot and imagery on hand while you are DEILDing.

Last night, I pretty much DEILDed back into a dream I woke up from!

I was dreaming that I was waiting on a table in a restaurant. I took a guests order for a steak and then I woke up in bed. I got the idea to continue the conversation where it left off during the dream and take the order of a guest who hadn't ordered yet. Immediately after as I started doing this, my body became heavy and I felt a pulling sensation back into the dream world. I ended up being launched through outer space and back to another restaurant where I lost lucidity.

Now I get it! I just have to continue the dream in my mind from where it left off when I wake up.

      Thanks, Sageous!

I've read somewhere here, you should not roll on your side when doing WILD.
Last night I rolled on my side, because I wanted to go to sleep without WILD and I startet visualising stuff as I drifted of.
Suddenly I felt like rolling to the left, which scared me a little at first, beacause I really laid near the edge on the left.
As I managed to kind of let go of everything I felt like falling down to the ground and when I would hit the ground I had a FA at my grandmas house (strange time travel LD).

Often when I try to go to sleep I see like shadows and if i start visualising them to be something (like a mountain range this time) I start getting into a Dream really quickly. Unfortunately I don't see this shadows a lot, most of the time its only black if I close my eyes.
Is there a way to see those (I guess its a kind of HI) more regular?
Is this even a technique, that I'm doing?!

Not really, as far as I know. You can take advantage of useful HI when it happens, but you really cannot make the HI happen on your own. About as close as you can come in this department is what you're already doing, so stick with that and hope that your mind continues to provide HI from which you can work!

well today something weird happened to me i could of have two wilds lately i have been having a lot of lucid dreams (3) the main cause is insomnia i have no problem falling a sleep at night but when i wake up after 5 hours that's when insomnia hits me

Today i tried to fall a sleep the first time i had The WILD sensations was after around 40-60 minutes of trying to fall a sleep then the vibrations hit me and they got louder i could feel my body very relaxed i tried to separate but didn't work but i had a lot of paranoia and fear not because of the vibrations or sleep paralysis but maybe i was expecting a nightmare

the second time i tried laying on my back i moved when i wanted to but i started counting then stopped after a few minutes like 20-30 the vibrations hit me again i was wearing a sleep mask they ware loud i tried to separate it didn't work an intense fear hit me but regardless i tried focusing on vision and i saw a creepy scene i was in an abandoned building i opened my eyes but was still wearing the sleep mask then closed my eyes again and the scene was still there but nothing happened .

well i just wanted to get this off my chest i don't know why i have the fear its not my first time having the transition heck i wasn't scared the first time will meditation help i sure hope so

It is a good sign that this is happening cause you are ready to face fears head on. I can understand why you did not want to go into the dream but I am sure you could change it into something positive. At least knowing its not real when it is really scary is a very profound experience. Well done on your dream work.

^^ If you're having trouble with WILD, then I suggest that you take the course to which this thread is attached; maybe it will help!

I'm not sure you meant it that way, but WILD has nothing to do with dream-sharing or dream walking. Also, it's best to start a new thread about shared-dreaming or dream walking experiences/issues in the Beyond Dreaming forum; you'll probably get more liked-minded dreamers to see your question there.

      And welcome to Dreamviews!

Success !!! 3x lucid dream chains all of them WILDs in one night my greatest success yet and one of my best lucids i flew a lot in all of them

Things i found out first because i was sleeping on my side in every lucid dream i didn't have sight but i rubbed my hands and waited and after a somewhat 10-15 seconds i would get sight sometimes in one eye

the other thing i taut was weird because i was wearing a sleep mask i could feel it in my dream but i could see see through it maybe i was wearing it the edges of your vision ware blurred out so i think it was coll

all in all an awesome experience these luicds came from a bad insomnia XD and something to point out i got the WILD vibration two times but didn't do anything because i was scared of what awaits me i don't know why im scared of lucids lately but i decided that if i want sleep i have to do it while lucid dreaming so i did that i got the vibrations the third time and decided to separate and it worked and no regrets

And the way i did my (DEILDS) was the same after my dream seemed to fade i would briefly wake up and separate and boom back in to the same dream and the scene was the same its just i had to start over from my bed and get sight back the only problem was my recall was not perfect but still i could remember most parts

Thank you for reading and i hope some people can get useful information

Yeah, I get that with my mask, too -- I think it is because of how close a LD'er really is to his waking-life body. I've found that the sensation makes a nice RC, though.

[QUOTE=ahmedoy] i am not sure if that was a wild , i woe 5:30 minuites after sleep and i woke up didnt expect something special , tried wild on my room on back but my neck wasnt relaxed so couldnt fall to sleep but then i woke up for a bit went to a more comfortable bed in my house not mine tried wild on my back (failed of course ) then i tried on my side and ifelt sleepier i felt i can try and make a dream scene like in world of lucid dreaming .com tutorial i started making a star and i could see it i then tried triangle and square but then i started losing consiousness next thing i realize is i am watching a sheep not cow it was in a balcony now i had so little consiousness i thought that i wass still performing wild and i tried to replicate the sheep in hypnogogia although i was already in a dream i was so dumb , then the sheep became phosphoric now and i felt a vortex swallowing me i never wanted to be swallowed more than that i was so happy and excited i think the dream made showed me what i believe cause i read some one say he enterd by imagining a vortex , then i open my eyes and unfortunatley no dream well it was a false awakening a clone of my room in a dream but i didnt realize that i was so sad in the dream then i find myself floating in a park from the very above i then dont know how i did this i was so dumb i have been trying wild for a year now i did it but instead of enjoy it i did something stupid . forming the dream scene with my hypngogia stuck in my mind i closed my eye in the dream and tried to add a tree and change the scenery i dont know why i did that , then i find my self at my house another false awakening but as always i thought i realy woke up i complete d my normal lfe in there for 5 minuites and woke up

      What the hell was that?

so today i was trying wild but i slept and woke up after an hour knowing my rem ended , i then tried to perform wild anyway as a method of practice although i know nothing will happen cause my rem has ended i , use a method that has success with m e which is relaxing on your back and staying still , then sleep on my side which makes me realy tired and ready to wild , but then unexpectedly i started hearing a very high sound and i was 100% awake closing my eyes and something was sucing me it wasnt scary i didnt knew if this was vibrational state or entering a dream but it was so intense i didnt imagine it was that powerful it was like i was moving very fast in speed of light towards my right side in a vortex thing and with very high sounds and sleep paralysis i couldnt move but sleep paralysis was so negligble towards the very fast sucked feeling , i then felt my teeth squeezing on each other while i was closing my eye which ofcourse ended every thingafter 20 seconds of this werid thing i didnt enter any dream but that was i think because i was distracted by the vibrational sucking feeling and i was moving my jaw during sleep paralysis so i woke up amazed and decided to type this post answer please

^^ That all sounds to me like you ran into a bit of HI, Ahmedoy, or were actually having a dream of sorts.

I say "of sorts" because you may actually have been dreaming, but were also in a brief period of NREM, meaning that your dreaming mind wasn't prepared for you to still be asleep and dreaming, and was at a bit of a loss about what to produce for imagery -- so it gave you what you were most expecting to see, which was the noise to which you seemed interested in paying a lot of attention... in other words, you were dreaming about HI. For instance, during that time you thought you were 100% awake, you might actually have been asleep and dreaming (during non-lucid dreams, you always think you are 100% awake, so there is a chance that you were just dreaming you were awake).

So, whether it was HI or a dream about HI, the solution I offer is the same: treat it all as noise that is getting in the way of your actual dream. Just calmly let it pass, and don't try to decide what it all is at it is happening (this is just another way of paying too much attention to it). In time, your dreaming mind will spool back up and give you dreams you want to be in.

I also highly recommend that you avoid assuming that your REM period has ended. REM periods do not need to follow a specific schedule, and can tend to start up "off schedule" if you are doing things like WILD or DEILD and looking for more dreams and sleep. But if you "know" you are out of a REM period, then you probably will be, and the dreaming you desire might prove just a bit harder to come by.

tl;dr: Try to ignore the noise, Ahmedoy, and calmly wait for your dream to arrive. You're already proving that you are right at your dream's door; don't allow yourself to force it closed by paying too much attention to that noise!

so i was trying wild on my side and I easily enter sleep paralysis while aware and i remember the tutorials saying if you get sleep paralysis before hypnogogia try exiting your body rather than the visualization methods , so i thought exiting was hard but the second i thought about it it just happened i was out (i dont believe in obes , and astral stuff , this was just a dream !!! ) but then is the weird part i am not in my house it was a house i spent summer in , i then have false memories for example in the dream i thought i performed wild in that place i forgot about my bed , i was in my normal age at my ghost body however at my bed was a 5 years old version and he was paralysed in the dream it was very convinving i knew i was performing wild but, i thought i made a real obe and all of the dream signs didnt alert me like meeting my family in a house where i didnt perform the technique and meeting a younger version of me but no my mind says no thats real and normal so in the dream i try touching and talking to people who are my family turns out they can see me then the younger me wakes up and sees me and i say hi , and people start teleporting from their places ? and i am floating and voila !! i wake up for real . i was fully consious in the whole experience but i dont know why in the dream i was so dumb

      ^^ Interesting experience, Ahmnedoy!

      First:

You sure didn't read that in my class, or, I assume, the official DV's WILD tutorial!

This is because actual SP does not happen as you are falling asleep, but when you are waking up; what you experienced was probably nothing more than deep relaxation or perhaps the onset of REM atonia, though that tends to occur after you have completed your WILD transition and are already asleep and dreaming. I've always found it best to not use SP as a goal or tool in LD'ing (unless of course you are one of the very few who actually do suffer from the condition upon waking), and here's one good reason:

It seems, by the description of your dream, that you were only slightly lucid, or not lucid at all. I say this because you were believing that certain images in your dream were real, when a fully lucid person would know they are not. It could be that the powerful imagery and expectation inherent in an expected and welcomed SP theme might have been complicit in giving you a NLD about being lucid. I could be wrong, but it seems that You may have been slightly removed from the activity of your dream, which implies low-level lucidity or no lucidity at all.

For your reference, you might look at these two threads about SP; they might help you next time you're in this spot:

      Sleep Paralysis Demystified

      Sleep Paralysis Explained

tl;dr: Your expectations about SP may have actually helped to reduce or eliminate your lucidity, possibly giving you a dream about being lucid; beware of attaching too much importance to things like SP.

      thanks

sooo you told me not to focus on entering REM atonia , and that it isnt called sleep paralysis so i have tried this method 5 times and it worked 4 times , the method is i dont use alarms i just wait till i wake up in middle of sleep or going to toilet . then i perform wild on my side with a blind fold mask and i stay still every time i lose consousness and pop in a dream , however this last time my lucidity decreased but i was consious when rem atonia came and i found myself in the weird dream . so you tell me not to focus on getting rem atonia , so then what should i focus on? a mantra ? or visualization ? and should i change this technique even if it works for me because i always have semi lucid or non lucid dreams ? or should i practice this technique till i adapt and learn how to keep my consousness? any way thanks for being so helpful
