It's hard to explain. Think of the smillies. Basicly, you have your own personalised one next to your name in the topics that you make. It's nothing special, I juat thought it might be nice for here. Wer're begining to use them over at iMAGNi, so if you want to see them in action, go there once the forum is ready. I'll show you a little example of a quick one that I made in photoshop (you can't really get good ones out of there.)

I don't like the idea of it, we've got rather lavish avatar & signature rules. For me, it would just be another thing I would not really look at.

You have a point there, usually, they are used to poin out members in smaller forums, but this place may be a tad too big.

Yeah, we've already run into bandwith problems in the past, and with the influx of members and posts, we're sure to see those problems again. So more images definitely wouldn't be a good idea, unless we tap our avatars and sig images to compensate. And I'm sure most of the members wouldn't want a 10-pixel or so reduction on their avatar just so that a few people could indulge in 5x5 pixel sprites to go with their names.
