      [Alive Spirit] - Poem

I wrote this poem when I was 14 (I'm 19), when one of my classmates died. She died in a horrific way, and so suddenly. We were all shocked by her death, and she was one of these people you'd wish you'd have gotten the chance to get to know better. She was really ambitious, wanted to become an actress, always took the lead roles in the school plays, and she was way too nice and kind to everyone who had gotten the chance to meet her. I was sitting next to her in a couple of classes, and the day we all returned to school after the incident, there was a bouquet of white flowers in her seat. It really got to me, and that's when I started to realize how fragile life can be, and how we should do anything in our power to keep it safe, and live the way we want to live, without doubting ourselves and losing time, because we never know just when all this will be gone.

I wanted to read it at her funeral, but I decided it would probably upset the parents even more, since it's as much dark as it is bittersweet. Here goes:

      Nobody ever understood
      Nobody ever wondered
How come her last breath was so cold?
How come her tears were straight from heaven?

She was a drawing in an empty world
She built her dreams with her own wand
She walked away, trying to reach the sky
But then she fell, into what was left behind

Her eyes sparkle inside their eyes
Her laughs they'll hear during moonlights
Her dreams she left to run away
And they all loved her, for lightning their day

Her spirit will guide you through your way
Teach you to learn, not to run away
And you will soon remember why
Her star moved on to reach the sky

      Nobody ever understood
      Nobody ever wondered

How come her last breath was so cold?
How come her tears were straight from heaven?

How come her body appeared to pray
How come her soul begged to stay
For what is worth of trying,
Now that her thoughts are dying

      Nobody ever understood
      Nobody ever wondered
How her fate, has ended up to be
A broken glass, a broken dream

      --------------------------

So, that's it. Must have been one of my first poems, but it has left a huge mark on me, due to the incident it refers to. Please feel free to comment.
