A while back something pretty cool almost happened. Someone (don't recall who) noticed me pasting the lyrics to "Wish You Were Here" in what I believe was then flash chat, and came up with an idea. We were going to take the song, and each take one part and record it and mix he tracks to make a sort of DV cover band. It was a really cool idea but it never really got off the ground.

So, I've been thinking that we should give it another shot. I can do the guitar, or if someone else particularly wants the guitar, and It's in my range, I suppose I could sing (that's what I was set to do last time).

Depending on what song we pick, we'll need at least a singer, 1 guitar, a bass, and drums. It's not like I could help anyone record (other than advice), but I take an interest in audio engineering, so I could help mix the tracks.

So, anyone else interested? I really think it's at least worth a shot, and we could end up with something pretty cool - a sort of lineup-changing DV cover band. We could do any genre, I don't care. Not to mention, I'd love to have some material to practice mixing.

Well, I love to sing, however, it's not extremely good. I could do back up vocals? 8D

Ok, cool. We can do Wish You Were Here if you guys want, but we can (and should) explore some other possibilities as well. All doors are open.

Hey guys, I can play guitar, drums, synths, piano-ish and I can also mix and produce. I'd be well up for doing something like this, however I'd much prefer to work on original material than a cover song if anyone was up for that?

I've got a little original material in the works. What genres/styles interest you?

Also, maybe we can do one cover just as a sort of test run, to work out all the logistics whatnot, then start working on some original material.

I'm up for pretty much any genre, there are very few genres that I don't enjoy some aspect of. What interests you?

I'd personally like to avoid any cover association as I have played my fair share of covers and would like to distance myself from that area as much as possible.

That's cool. I feel similarly in terms of genres, to me it's much more about an individual work's artistic value.

As far as covers, I've actually done a little too much of that myself. The real idea of a over is to breathe some new life into the material, shake it up in order to reveal something within the material that couldn't be seen in it's original form. I'm working on musical ideas now. Basically anytime I'm playing and I get a neat idea, I record it. So now what I've got is all these little clips of ideas on my hard drive. And I'm going back now and sorting through them, sort of organizing them and trying to develop some of them. I've got one song hashed out, in a very basic form. Needs some polishing, maybe some pairing down, then I can build the individual instrument arrangements around what I've got.

I could sing, but the only instrument I really play well is the alto/tenor saxophone.
EDIT: And as for genre, I'm okay with whatever.

I play piano. I think I can sing but I probably can't lol.

I would want a different song though. If it's the one I'm thinking of.

I can play bass if you guys still need someone too, though I'll be playing it through a guitar amp using sub-par recording equipment. And I'm a guitar player, but everyone's a guitarist. We could maybe somehow work in a couple different solos so multiple people can play guitar, I'd be down to take one, though that means I gotta get a power supply for my pedals, mine just died.

What about drums? I'm not to big on drum machines. Do we have any drummers?

Ok, so you do bass, I play mainly guitar, Ben can play drums, and we've got several people who think they can sing decently. This is actually starting to shape up . Anyone else have any ideas as far as music/lyrics? Even just some chords, I like starting with that and working out arrangements.
