      Deery's Sketches 2.0

Because I needed a little spring cleaning... but I'll try not to make any more new threads for my artwork.

Here's just a quick sketch last night that I did of Eartha Kitt, trying to caricature her. I'm absolutely in love with her and I've been wanting to caricature her for a while, so it was inevitable.

Whoops, just realized her right hand is cut off...

And THIS is an original character I've been trying to develop for years now. He's a cartoon pygmy marmoset that will eventually be modeled, rigged and animated in 3d. This is the closest I've gotten to nailing his "look" down on paper- with colored pencils.

Now that I'm more or less confident with the face, I should definitely start drawing his entire body more often (he'll generally be a cutesy, two-heads-tall pear shaped type). Updates will come soon.

Also, just for fun, I drew this little girl entirely from my imagination a while ago and I'm still proud of it, but I don't remember posting it here before.

Yayy, I finally did something productive!

Here are a bunch of manly figure sketches I made last night from random (sexy) internet photos. This time I was more sloppy (but still slow, a few minutes or more each), drawing a kind of posed stick figure first as if I was making him out of armature wire, and then scribbling in lots of ovals for different segments of the anatomy as if I was slapping some clay on the wire, to later sculpt into something more detailed. It certainly makes the drawings look a little more impressive, with all the scribbling. Hope that method is helping me.

      Lamb Chops face!

This one was especially fun to work on.

This last pic I'm proud of because I actually took the time to map out the proportions, and it looks better because of it. Sorry about the quality of the pics, btw, my scanner's not working properly so I took pictures.

      Wow, these are really good.
I love drawing, but i can only draw things, not people.

Thanks guys! Tara, you're so sweet. Glad to know there's at least one fan of me around here.

I checked out an instructional art book from the library called Simplified Anatomy For The Comic Book Artist, and it's got really good instruction. While following it, I got some good practice and made up these chicks from scratch.

^She immediately turned into an Asian K-Pop girl once I drew a ponytail.

My scanner pooped out on me after that, again, so I apologize for the following poorly photographed, dimly lit drawings. These are characters I followed from the book's directions.

Following those drawings, I decided to test out these methods on a picture of Seth MacFarlane

Then my sister told me to draw Uhura from her Star Trek movie poster in her room.

I especially like how Uhura turned out and had fun doing it.

Then I drew this monster from the book.

The next chapter is finally about bodies, so stay tuned!

Thanks greenhavoc! I have tried taking some requests in the past, but if I'm not personally interested in the subject of the request as well, then it's highly likely that I won't get around to it.
