Talking Only the beginning to my drawings

This summer I decided to buy a sketch pad knowing that I was highly incapable of drawing. I'm only the crafty type but I don't consider that as remarkable as drawing because all you need for crafty things is a glue stick and a good idea. Psh, most people can be crafty. It takes real talent to draw. Anyways, I bought this sketch pad in hopes that maybe I could actually draw if I worked on it and today (my first day of using it) I actually came up with something amazing (for not really drawing anything ever before)! The reason I am posting this is because I would love for some insight and ideas on things I could possibly draw.

My first drawing is my favorite Victoria Secret model, Miranda Kerr

Hmm... I'm not an artist but I've been around several artist friends.

I think you might need to improve on the eyes and hair, as well as adding in shading. I like it that your lines are firm though, that's a good start.

This seems great for someone who's never really done that before. The only thing that looks a little odd is that the eyes look too big. I'd love to see what it looks like once it's finished. Keep posting!

Thanks. (: I need the right tools for shading. I'm going to the store some time this week.

Thanks! That means a lot. I didn't know I was capable of even that. Yeah I started with the eyes and then I worked around it and realized they were too big.

Well done for havin' a go!

You would probably be good at doing caricatures and portraiture I think.

Regarding the eyes... well if the Japanese Manga cartoonists break the 'rules' then why can't we.

Maybe practice doing quick drawings of friends or family etc. Try doing some self portraits in the mirror, but don't be too critical about the results as like everything, drawing takes practice.

Be creative rather than get bogged down trying to emulate every line, shade or detail. Sometimes you have to know when to stop!

Good luck and all the best.

I'm trying to do the opposite. Go from drawing less to maybe doing crafts and making things.

      So any tips for me?

hmmmmm...... ok, is this supposed to be realistic?
      Or a cartoon of her?

Thanks so very much! I know it sounds so cliché but nothing impossible. You can make anything out of everything. You just have to have an idea and think of ways you can make it. There have been so many time where I've wanted something but don't want to pay the price for it so I just roam around the craft store and find items that can recreate the item.

To be honest I have no idea. I guess with the eyes being so big cartoon-ee. I have to work on drawing people... that's for sure but I'm pretty proud of my first drawing. I'm leaning more for realistic I just need to learn.

I used to draw manga character... but am not really a good artist (not really an artist) it's just one of my hobbies. But for you I think you need more improvements but you're doing good actually just need a little more polish especially to the teeth and hair part God bless.
