DJ Contacreast, he is awesome. One of my favorite songs by him:
DJ Contacreast - Happy Fantasy - YouTube

And I really like Ryu* also:

I really like listening to and making electronic/techno music, so they're a big inspiration.

Rush - 2112. Epic, inspiring, energizing, creative, emotional, and motivational. There are parts about dreaming and astral projection too. It changed my life in a few ways. It was the song that made me want to play the guitar and it helped me get over depression (I'm not sure why, it's actually a depressing song when you think about it).

All five of these men are true musical geniuses who changed music forever, including the music you listen to.
“Over all, I think the main thing a musician would like to do is give a picture to the listener of the many wonderful things that he knows of and senses in the universe. . . That’s what I would like to do. I think that’s one of the greatest things you can do in life and we all try to do it in some way. The musician’s is through his music.”

So many things. I'll make a few mentions: Radiohead, for their overall approach and musical sense, their way of always pushing their music into completely new territory. Yes; I'm not sure any band has ever struck me with the same sort of mystical wonder that is to me well embodied in their earlier works. The overall orchestration ( so to speak) of their music just blows me away. They have put out some very interesting music recently as well, albeit without either Wakeman or Anderson. Tool; I'm sure many of you can imagine why I would mention them. Very intelligent music, both in a melodic and rhythmic sense, and in a lyrical and conceptual one. They seem to espouse a very mature and admirable worldview - I won't say any more on that, at the risk of hijacking this thread with talks on the advancement of humanity .

That's pretty much what I've felt is my top 3, in many ways. I could name plenty more somewhat less significant names - Muse has been moving onto my radar pretty quickly as of late, especially since I picked up my copy of The 2nd Law - but that could go on for a good bit, and some names would inevitably not come to mind. I've been known to take an interest in everything from Steely Dan to Puscifer, and a whole host of other things, and I imagine by now you get the picture.
