3D Animation - STARTED
So in Digital Media class at school, we are to do some research on our favourite animator, and then make an animation of their style. My teacher, being a teacher, told us all to do 2D flipbooks or stop motion, since "None of us are experienced enough to make CGI films like Pixar do."
I sat in the corner thinking to myself, "Wait, I could do that kind of thing..." but I didn't say anything. I just nodded.
Yesterday, I set out to prove her wrong, and started the arduous adventure of creating an animation. This is my first ever fully modelled and rigged character. EVER. He is animatable and all :D

Tell me what y'all think :) I shall start the storyboard soon :D
(Made using Blender by the way)

Dude that's awesome. Make sure you post any progress :)
-
I don't like the design too much, but I wish you luck with impressing a teacher who will most likely not care.
-
Thanks slash112, I plan to! :D
Thanks for the luck Marvo :L
-
Well done.
If that were me, I would have just said Don Hertzfeldt (not just out of laziness though, he really is my favorite animator).
-
Wow that was awesome! By the way what version of blender did you use? have you tried 3d's max?
-
Thanks Supernova and jetta86s!
I used Blender 2.63. I have tried 3ds max, but in my opinion, Blender is better. I prefer it.
-
This is so amazing. It's well made and could make a great animation.
If you ever make a really long film with it, link me. I would watch it :).
I'm still learning how to delete the cube that you start with :(.
-
Thank you Luna! :D -hugs-
I doubt I'll make anything really long with it, maybe a couple minutes, something like that. But I shall be sure to link you to it :D
Hit x to delete that cube ;) Although, the cube is usually the starting point for most models that aren't cylindrical at all. You get to love that little cube! :D

Awwww, it's a cute little baby dinosaur <3
-
You're welcome. I just ask since you're good at it cause am trying to make one too and am still searching for a good animator to use. Thanks by the way:)
-
Blender's the one I went with first since it's free, and haven't let it go since! :D

Hi, I'm new here so you don't know me, but I studied Diploma of 3D Animation back in 2000, and I have to say, your portfolio is better than most stuff I saw being produced in my classes (including mine)! your portfolio is super impressive. Is this something you think you will do professionally one day? Because you really are very talented.
And the dino is sooooooooo cute!

It's adorable, omg. Good luck, I hope you can prove this teacher wrong.
