Your best photographs

What's the best photograph you ever shot? I thought we could share our best ones here. Also if you would like, you could tell the story about the photo, how you shot it and what idea was etc.

You also can introduce yourself about how long you been doing photography, if you now got that as interest/job or just maybe shoot photos sometime.


Myself:
I got interested in photography around 2009 when I was studying media on upper highschool. I had chosen graphic design as that intersts I'd since I was like 11 years old. However, in the graphic design lessons we had, we came through missions where teacher involved photography. So we got handed out a systemcamera and had to shoot photos (we could lend those cameras home).
My friend had himself a systemcamera and some intersts in photography, so he teached me about the basics, like what ISO, shutter speed and aperture are and how they affect each an other.
I got more intersted into photography through the years and under 2009 I was lending a systemcamera from school quite often.
In middle of 2010, my dad bought an Canon 550D which I've been using ever since. Even if it's his camera, I use it a lot more than he do.
So, that's it about my story how I got into photography. I simply just having it as an interest and maybe can call it a hobby.



I assume that a photo I was shooting for just 3 days ago (4th March 2013), may be the best photo I ever shot, or atleast one of the best. I uploaded it on Facebook, on a local fanpage for photos of the city where I live in. And from there I got quite many likes and sharings, the page themself shared out the photo too.

Story behind the photo is that 4th March I walked to city (as I do very often) with my gymbag and camera. Worked out at the gym located in middle of the city for an hour first. Then I went outside and were going to take photos around the city.
I had an idea to take photos of the bridge, a panorama photo, about 180 degree angle.
Once on the ice walking towards the bridge I was taking photos from far distance, and photos on other buildings etc.
It was very cold outside and my hands really got cold.
When I got quite close to the bridge, my hands were very cold and I almost couldn't feel them. I quickly raised my camera and shot photos, I hurried and didn't do it so perfect, but I surely shot about 15 photos.
Putted on my gloves again and tried to warm up my hands.
I had in mind to stay and try take more photos and maybe re-do the panorama shots to be sure it's gonna be something, so it's not being empty spots in the panorama that will mess up the whole photo.
But I felt I'd to pee, so I walked away and thought I maybe retry if it would fail.


First yesterday I found some time to try merge the photos together in PhotoShop to a panorama. I had in mind that it surely is total mess up as I'd sprayed photos fast all over the place.
But, result came out quite good in my opinion.
In camera raw it first didn't look very great, but changing the temperature to more warm (as it was a quite cold looking photo), it got completely differently and the photo feels more alive.



That's it.

Ohh, baah, I did search by maybe I didn't do it great enough.

I'd like to go ahead and answer this here if its ok. If not, forward it to the other thread. My best photography to date, has to be the shots I took of Adam back in mid-January of this year.

Backstory: We had JUST been flooded out of our home, had to swim for it in the middle of the night, waist deep in freezing cold river water. We lost clothes, food, some personal items, but by some miracle our trailer didn't get picked up and turn into a houseboat. The Red Cross came (they were dispatched from a hundred miles away!) and gave us money to replace our food, clothes, propane, and gave us shelter. Our very dear friends 60 miles away invited us into their home and gave us food and a warm bed. We stayed a weekend, and they have a huge farm :) Their animals are all raised to love people, to eat out of your hand and trust everyone, and I gotta say, there is nothing sweeter for the soul than grooming a horse that patiently listens to every word you say.

We were broken and beaten by that river. It took us both about 6 weeks to emotionally recover. One of the big aspects of that healing process, was photography. Adam has a chronic illness that is progressive. He won't be here much longer, maybe 5-6 years. He's only 41. He's lived a complete life, and experienced the good and the bad. He's a country/rock/folk musician with family roots in the moonshine hills of Kentucky who was, about a decade ago, making it big. Now he performs locally for private parties. He has a golden voice that melts butter and can make the knees of every girl from age 15 to 115, quake and quiver. He plays the acoustic guitar, bamboo flute, banjo, harmonica.... just thinking about his music makes me miss it even more. Thank GOD we recorded it and uploaded it to reverbnation already, so its there forever to replay. Anyway, knowing what is to come, with his health, and how his body will physically change much too quickly for him, I asked him if I could take some "modeling" photos while we were at the barn staying with our friends. He was up for it, so I snapped about 70 photos, and from them chose these very special ones, which I have full sized, at this blog Healing through the camera lens | It's Not What You Know....
