If I took a guess from looking at the wings I would say because of the texture and wavy/curvy dream-like quality it holds, Its like it shouts out from beyond the screen....

I really love your work, you can tell you spend a lot of time and effort when you work on an image, like its a labor of love.

The first image is excellent, I love that purple haze touch that meets the ocean and the edge of sky - its magnificent. I feel the women’s expression is innocent yet alluring (in a insecure kind of way).

The details of the women’s feature are glorious, you have texture that echoes in reality, its like the true colour of skin and really interesting shapes etc

If you look at the wing, there is a smaller more fuzzier feather. I had to Control Arrow key and Free Transform each little feather into their right positions starting from bottom to top and layering them to fall like feathers do on a real wing. Of course when I was done, I linked the layers and then Linked Merge them to lessen the amount of layers since the rest of the background gets its layers too. There are also other effects with the wings--smudging, Gaussian blur, Motion blur, regular blur, drop shadow, outer glow, blending modes, etc.

The girl is the scan. The wings was my creation. Also the rest of the background. I think you are getting confused in thinking the wings were part of her. If you did think that *blushes galore* then I achieved the effect well

No I knew that you created the wings yourself...I was just unsure as to whether or not you created the actual characters. So you take someone else's art, and add backgrounds and change it around a bit is that all? I mean don't get me wrong your walls are beautiful I'm just trying to get this straight.

Yes. We use the original artwork from a manga, for example, and then develop the rest of the background. The background can be symbolic, scenic, grunge style, etc.

Here is the site's main link and as you see when you enter, all the other tons of others wallpapers which again follow the same suit--use a scan from a manga and develop a world for it using any program on your computer. There is even a 'scan' section for us to pick scans from ^_^

There are sections there where you can create your own character and post it up. So if you are interested in sharing your work and drawings or sketches if you're not into the wallpaper biz then you can definitely go to the right section for you and have fun!
