El Cielo - dredg, a concept album about LD and SP

(I know there has been a thread about this, but it's like umpteen years old and I didn't want to awaken a thread from the dead =P)

As a lucid dreamer, I HIGHLY recommend that you listen to the band dredg, and in particular their album "El Cielo". It translates to "Heaven" or "The Sky", and it's an immense progressive rock album that focuses on sleep paralysis, lucid dreaming, and Salvador Dalí's painting Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee Around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening. Here's the album cover:

This has become one of my favorite albums of all time. This album actually introduced me to lucid dreaming! (note my username) I listened to it simply because it was a music genre I was into. Their music is characterized by melancholic vocals, swirling guitar-work, and overall just dreamy progressive rock music.

Here's a good track to introduce you to the band & album: Dredg - Sanzen - YouTube

I hope you guys check this out. It's a must-have if you're even the slightest bit interested in sleep paralysis and lucid dreaming... and all of us should be

I listen to Leitmotif fairly frequently (considering the amount of music I have)... How does this compare?

Also this belongs in Entertainment. You're new, so this is directed at them lazy, lazy mods.

El Cielo is a huge departure in style and production from Leitmotif, so don't expect more of the same. The production is cleaner and more polished, as are Gavin's vocals. It's also much less aggressive - El Cielo trades the raw aggression of Leitmotif for melancholy "dreaminess". Hope that helps.

This album is in my all time top ten... it might well be one of the best if not the best album I know in terms of being an actual album, not a collection of songs from one band. The whole album feels like one, I usally hear it from beginning to end and to really enjoy it I have to hear it at once, in one session. I bought it because of a recommendation from a bassist forum, it was quite cheap on Amazon so I gave it a shot.

All instruments are played really unique and skillful, especially the drums. Vocals are great, as are the lyrics. This album has made me aware of the whole SP and LD topics, it sparked my curiosity to learn more about it and now eventually take the first steps to try to LD.

I absolutely love the spacey guitars, they build up so much atmosphere... its hard for me to name a favorite song because I really think they only truly work if they are heard in context with the others. That "Triangle" start and ending catches me every single time if I hear it in conjunction with the other tracks, but it leaves me unimpressed if heard as a single track. I needed a good three hear-throughs to really grasp and appreciate it, now it's been a favorite on my playing list for quite some years. Most good music needs some time to get used to it, this album is no exception.
