      A lucid dream poem

I got bored in German class so I wrote this poem:

As I lie in my bed exploring a dream,
      In my own reality worlds,
I can soar like a glider, walk through a wall,
      And seduce some beautiful girls.

      I am god of my own perceptual state;
      My hallucinations are mine.
      I am free, I can be whatever I want;
      I become my only divine.

There is nothing to limit, save for myself,
      My imagination and thought.
      This is liberty at its farthest extreme;
I can find whatever I've sought.

Then I wake to the godless world of the real,
To the rules of physics and law.
But although once again I feel these constraints,
I will not forget what I saw.
“The sleep is still in my eyes
The dream is still in my head
I heave a sigh and sadly smile
And lie a while in bed
I wish that it might come to pass
Not fade like all my dreams” —Rush

I don't mind at all. Do whatever you want with it. I create solely for the sake of creating.

      All right, how's this?

In the darkness of nightfall I stare at the ceiling
As I wait for fatigue to take over my head.
Then I lose all the worries that life has me feeling
And I start to forget my existence in bed.

I begin to imagine myself as a being
Free of all of the fears and the angst of the earth.
On this planet of mine I create what I'm seeing
And to all the sensations I feel I give birth.

I have no obligation and no limitation.
There is nothing to tell me what I cannot do.
Creativity gives to me full liberation,
Total access to everything, ancient and new.

I heave a sigh and sadly smile
And lie a while in bed

I don't know what hypnagogic imagery is like and I've only experienced sleep paralysis once...kind of.

Now off I go to undertake
      A quest of my creation
To worlds without a hint of hate
      Or needless domination.
A peaceful place of joy and love,
      Utopian oasis.
Who cares if this is all a dream?
The dream has been the basis
Of all the progress man has made
      In all of his existence.
If man wants peace he'll surely need
      His revery's assistance.
Just think of Martin Luther King,
Of all his dream has given.
And as he dreamt so too I dream.
By dreams we must be driven.
      The dream enriches waking life
      Like dreams that life enriches.
With dreams we build the mountains high
      Instead of digging ditches.
With so much beauty in this world
      We can't afford ignoring,
No hatred stands the slightest chance
      When man goes dream-exploring.
“The sleep is still in my eyes
The dream is still in my head
I heave a sigh and sadly smile
And lie a while in bed
I wish that it might come to pass
Not fade like all my dreams” —Rush

Not quite sure, but I think this belongs in the Artist's corner rather than GD..however its borderline so don't smack me for it =P

      Well written, by the way

Hey there, it's strange because I've felt the exact same way about dreaming in general, I wrote a poem about it all, I might post it some time if I'm not too lazy. Keep up the work though.

It's nice. Mind if I post it at another website forum? And can I email it to my friends?

Go ahead. As an anarchist communist, I don't believe in intellectual property rights. Anything I write can be freely copied, distributed, modified, etc. I write solely to get my ideas out there, not to restrict their usage. It would be nice if you said where you got it from though.

I do so like well-written meter. Good show, Revero.
