      Poetry from 7th grade

We had to do history poetry in 7th grade so I thought after all that work I might as well post some of it...

      The Brothers

      Oh, the brother I slew
      And he never knew
      We was kin

      But the battle begun
      And down beat the sun
      Here I committed my sin

      With a parry n' thrust
And a taste for blood lust
My sword went right through his side

And he fell to the ground
      The finger was down
      This is where I confide

That I sliced him in half
      And had a good laugh
He uttered "Please tell Lisa; me mother"

Good lord, he was my brother.

      Carthaginian Soldier

      Marching through the blust'ry snow
      To victory we'll never know
My friend lay down his head to die
And I let out a long, hard sigh

My breath unfurls throughout the night
I dread the day we start the fight
Despair creeps up with a hand of ice
And puts me in an iron vice

      I'm either dead or alive
      I hope for the latter
But if I do die it probably won't matter

Let us hope we won't all die in pain
My only wish is to not perish in vain.

Keep in mind I wrote these in 7th grade so give me a break. :p
Constructive criticism is entirely welcome though

Very evocative. Did you get a good grade?

(A confession: I hated writing poetry, and in 6th grade we were assigned to write a patriotic poem. I asked my mother to write it for me, which she did, and it was so good I had to read it in front of the whole school. Quite embarrassing.)

Haha, that must have been mortifying. What did your mom think of the matter?

And thanks, the best reply I thought I would get was something like, "well, that's not too bad I guess... for a 7th grader" To answer your question I got an A on both poems.

It was horrible!:p My Mom was proud of herself tho.

      So have you quit writing?

They both could be put to music and sung in an Irish pub, to get the drunks crying.

There is nae better compliment lassie, many a drunk shall weep most bitterly. Yes I have stopped writing though, I thought I might pick it up again just as a sort of fun side hobby.
