      FInding MyseLf
      By Joshua A. Hawkins

We go through life thinkin we are one of a kind
when we're really no more important than the barcode we've been asigned
      reality is just an illusion
life simply being part of this dillusion
when at last I see what is real
and thats not what we taste see hear or feel
we are to find the reason why
most dont care and jus watch as life passes by
falling into our self louthing depressions
alowing others to see only our trangressions
our fates already set out and intertwined
through exploration of my soul and mind
these are the things I discover
trying to find my self so I may finaly recover
the things we experiance in this life
      everything from love to strife
but even still nothing is real
not even the things you feel
love in its self is just another form of manipulation
this is what i've found from my exploration
      ---------------------------------------------------------
then there is this little tidbit that crept up from the deepest pit of my small intestense.

      Psycotic Harmony
      By Joshua A. Hawkins

I watch as the blood runs down your cheek
the look in your eyes seeming so shiek
what will i do what will i say
the next time the other children ask to for you to come out and play
      the tea partys over
      now and forever
your blood splatters everwhere as i press the lever
draining and dripping down the sink your torcherd body my only link
no one must know of my act
the one in which the devil and I made our pact.

BTW I'm, not really this Pyschotic.... I just have a very active imagination....

oh and this is a link to a picture I made using Photoshop...im the one the the right and the one to the left is.... well ill let you interpret that.

      Re: My art!

Interesting bit of work, I have to admit. But when I read the following stanza, it really reminded me of something John Donne had written:

      A VALEDICTION FORBIDDING MOURNING.
      by John Donne

13 ) Dull sublunary lovers' love
      14 ) —Whose soul is sense—cannot admit
15 ) Of absence, 'cause it doth remove
16 ) The thing which elemented it.

17 ) But we by a love so much refined,
18 ) That ourselves know not what it is,
      19 ) Inter-assurèd of the mind,
20 ) Care less, eyes, lips and hands to miss.

In line 13, "Dull sublunary lovers" (or lovers from 'beneath the moon' ie human beings) in this case do not know of any form of love ouside that which consists of the five senses. Therefore, "absence" or simply being apart from eachother negates said love.

But the "we" in line 17 have a more "refined" love and therefore don't miss eachother's "eyes, or lips, and hands" during the same absence, because they are connected by their minds.

I guess when you said "thats not what we taste see hear or feel", I was reminded of John Donne's expressions of a love that can exist in a state of absence. Which I find metaphysically very enlightening, since the poem is about losing a loved one through death (in this case, the author).

I spared you the length of the entire valediction, which can be found here: http://www.luminarium.org/sevenlit/donne/mourning.htm

      Nice work Josh.

      pretty poem

nice poem... to bad i dont believe in being IN-LOVE without the physical sence.... the way i see it... "love" is what our society uses to govern having sex and reproducing (natural tendancy).. thats the reason we grow up get with someone, get married and have kids... its our nature to want to reproduce.. if it wasnt.. i dought there would be as many people on our planit as there is...

i note there is ofcourse the careing for one another.. which comes from tribal unity... (family that works together stays together) evolutions expanded this, and our sociaty discribes it as love... its just our nature...

That's depressing. Have you ever *been* in love?

You mean how it's in our nature? Well yeah I agree with that one.

He's right though...to be completely IN-LOVE requires the physical senses, as well as the more "refined" elements that Donne mentioned. We're only human after all, we need BOTH really! I just like the poem because it reminds us that, even in death, some of the elements of love remain indefinitely, if it is the type of love admitted in this particular valediction.
