      Skysaw's Rose Castle for Orchestra

I'm writing a suite for orchestra called The Cornell Boxes, based on the peculiar artworok of Joseph Cornell. I thought I'd share my most recently completed movement here:

      Rose Castle - mp3

I'd love to hear what you all think.

MMmmmmmm. Putting on the headphones and preparing for a treat.

And now that my home studio is set back up, I'll be giving this a listen later on the Event 20/20's.

      Thank you!!!!!

      **EDIT**

My goodness, but this is excellent. Dare I say 'fantastic'?

Chills starting about halfway in, and repeatedly through the end.

Beautiful work, man - in composing and production. Thanks again for letting us listen.

      It really shows.

Isn't it something when a composition takes on a life of its own and starts revealing all sorts of wonderful directions, leaving it up to you to choose the one that is best for you?

That's flow. And you certainly have achieved it.

Good stuff, skysaw - I'm not familiar with Joseph Cornell's piece, but I'm not sure I want to cuz it might ruin the imagery and sroryline that developed in my head while listening to it.

Curious, where do you get the orchestral samples, a CD set? I like to tinker around with GarageBand and tried downloading orchestral sound libraries. They're hard to find (for free anyway) but I did manage to find one good one for horns (sounds like it's right off the NBC News Nightline theme, LOL). It's strings and woodwinds that I can't find good ones of. I might just go ahead and buy some - any recommendations?

The samples are mostly from the Garritan Personal Orchestra with a couple of instruments from Garritan Jazz & Big Band. The solo violin in the middle section is the Garritan Stradivari. Dollar for dollar, you simply cannot beat these libraries. Personal Orchestra is packed full of wonderful playable samples.

If you go to my website linked in my signature, you can hear a lot of my orchestral works, mostly using only GPO.
