I Need Some Stencil Help

Alright guys, i'm just gonna cut to the chase because i've been looking for an answer to this question for the entire day. The problem is this question might not make sense at first.

"How do you make a stencil bigger on Adobe Elements or GIMP?"
What i mean is i've seen Tut's on how to create big stencils by printing different sections of the picture on to different pieces of paper.
