Photoshop cover design - Cornell Boxes

This is the cover I'm designing for my latest orchestral score The Cornell Boxes. The image borrows from Cornell's artwork, since the score is dedicated to his work. The image was a lot of work, so let me know what you guys think of it.

I really like it. The simplicity of it is really nice...also a bit surreal. Well done.

It's really nice, very good job. Although something seems a bit strange about the parrot, it sort of seems out of place or more vivid then the rest of the picture or something.... I can't quite put my finger on it, but otherwise it looks great.

I did notice that the parrot looks a bit odd. It's the way he's standing, he needs to be turned sideways or something so both his feet are clutching the side.

Er...wait. Is he supposed to look like he's "conducting"?

I really like it, it's engaging and quite pleasant to look at!

I think the bird is just fine, my bird often strikes such poses. The bird adds dimension and a 'living' element to the picture, too.

      Thanks guys. I appreciate it.

The parrot is a recurring theme in a few of Cornell's pieces, where he uses a colorful cut-out drawing much like the one I used. If it feels out of place it's because it is, sort of. I believe this is keeping within the spirit of his curious little constructions, where strange juxtapositions are the norm.

I also like the idea that the bird seems a bit real, having broken out of the construction itself, and is enjoying a little freedom. Note the bird cage in the bottom center square where he used to be confined.

Very interesting. I was trying to look sideways into the box under the parrot to see the picture on the "wall". It almost seemeds 3-D and like I could get a better view in there somehow, then I realized what I was doing.

I like the parrot too; he looks like he is going to climb down into the room maybe.

I like it skysaw, good job, only part i would change is the text which says your name at the bottom, it just stands out in the wrong way IMO. It could be the brightness behind it or it could be the font, try experimenting, but overall its a really good cover.

Haha! I guess I did a pretty good job of making it look 3-D then.

The picture is of Lauren Bacall and is from one of Cornell's boxes. Here is the entire box:

I saw this one in person and the picture doesn't nearly convey. The ball actually can roll down from an opening in the top, and you can see it pass by the little holes.

I like the parrot too; he looks like he is going to climb down into the room maybe.
I think of him more as having escaped from the box at bottom center where the cage is. He is enjoying his freedom!

I might tone down the brightness, and perhaps lessen the "greeness" of it.

The entire recording and manuscript for the work is almost complete. I'll post some music soon.

You have my full attention I can't wait to see this though!

As for the text, i think yeah that maybe the brightness on that glow needs lessening, or maybe even the glow colour should change, maybe white?

See what works best, but please do inform me when you can show the music, i am intrigued.
