      An artist's opion

Just because the tiltle implies artists, I would of coarse value anyones opion!
I have my own ideas, but I would like to here other peoples points of view on how or if, Lucid dreaming can help creativity and spawn new Ideas.
I personally feel that the subconcious has a very differant outlook on everything, and if you are aware of it, you can use this for the purpose of creativity.

I think the whole purpose of LD is the availability of unlimited creativity, and the ability to experience it in a very subjective state. LD is very efficient at unleashing true, unadultered creativity because it's just...so...real! Even in the process of falling asleep I've come up with things I never would have thought about, had I been awake. The left brain is the problem here

The subconscious relies on emotions to trigger events, rather than events to trigger emotions during our waking state. It's kind of the 'flipside' of consciousness
In this crazy world if they don't consider you mad, then you have no confirmation of your own sanity, do you?
Imagine if this crazy world thought you were sane?! Oh my God, worst nightmare!

I could not agree with you more. And that process of falling asleep is where I also have some of my most interesting thoughts. It is a stage called hynogogic imagery.

Yeah, I experience that regularly and it's quite interesting! Some of it starts to take on a fuzzy lucid dream experience

I reckon a lot of my dreams would make good TV shows or movies.
The best times of your life should not be when you're still so young, or else you'll live a life always dreaming of the past.

A lucid dream is a constant creative call and response that you and your subconcious take part in.

Observing the subconscious creative process has been a humbling experience for me many many times It's nothing that the conscious brain could possibly come up with.

Lomebririon I love your second sigpic...that's hilarious.

      The floppy wand

Boy could I ever tell you some strange stories about the things I catch my mind doing as I'm falling asleep. But then I probably couldn't put them into words because they are right out-there. It is like all logic becomes floppy wand...heehee, fitting metaphor, because logic when we are awake and tuned to perceive this reality is very rigid...when I fall asleep it slowly becomes flaccid and loses its hold.
Check out my post on "bleed-throughs" in the "beyond dreaming (forum"http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6584).
Basically, I am noticing that the dream world is starting to bleed-through to my waking world. One of the ways I've noticed it has been doing this for the last year or so is that in my waking states I can turn my "reality-perceiving" part off and listen purely to my subconscious.
I am a writer and a pianist, so this tune-off has allowed me lots of guidance. Indeed there is nothing more powerful and wonfderful than the unconscious mind. The book that I am having published was written by me completely turning off my reality-perceiving mind and listening purely to intuitive thinking, as is the trilogy I am currently writing.

So yes, I can testify to the power of the subconscious in creative processes! It is a truly amazing tool!
Know without knowing; think without thinking; be without being.

Good for you Putting the creativity into music is excellent.
Whenever I catch my brain slipping into that state it's just great...I start thinking of long intricate ideas in the form of words, and I am still consciously able to realize that it's way beyond my normal conscious capacity to generate such a consistent flow of ideas. I've also come up with song riffs in my sleep, which I could hum if I wanted to when I woke up.

The best part of good dreams are the awesome emotions that come with it. If someone watched it on TV they couldn't get the same feeling as you did.

      Laughing at my own jokes.

I just found some jokes that i had thought of during a stent of (HI). What was cool is that because I wrote it down, I had it on paper. Otherwise, just like a dream, you would forget. And that is exactley what I did. I found this tablet where I wrote it down and had no recollection of writing it. And it was like reading someone eleses jokes

I don't feel they are politically correct and I would not want to offend anybody. So I do not feel comfortable relaying them to the forum and it's members.
The one that is pretty lame that came to me as I passed a produce stand:
What do you call two professional athetes? Produece. Hey I dom't prclaim to be a comedian.
