last sunset of 2008 vs. first sunrise of 2009

As you can see in the sunrise photo, only a fraction of the open sky is visible on the horizon. Everything else (all the blue and pink) is really a giant sheet of a cloud. Before the photo was taken, I was thinking that was a forboding sign for 2009...but then as I continued photographing, it exploded into what you see here.

      I guess thats what you'd call a pink--rather than a silver--lining.

I simply couldn't stop my shutter finger, I think I took about 40 of that sunrise alone. As I watched it, I pointed up to the man upstairs and said "Kudos. A masterpiece." So stunning.

Did anyone else take any pictures of the 2008-2009 transition?

      Happy 2009 everyone!

I like this a lot. For how many years have you done this?

      Thanks you guys!

Unfortunately, this is only the first year I've done this. Over the last year or so I've been building up my "occurances in the sky" folder, so I thought this was a fitting addition. I'd like to do this every year, to get some sort of comparison.

Maybe I should post some more sometime.

Wow, a very cool idea to take photos of the suns. Beautiful too.

Isn't it weird to think how back before calendars and the passage of time became recorded this would've held no significance whatsoever? Just another sunset, another sunrise...

All the sunsets and sunrises in the world could be significant or insignificant in this sense. Another half-full, half-empty analysis.

Sorry, I like to try and make meaning to artwork such as this. Great job.

Starry starry night, paint your pallet blue and gray,
Look out on a summers day,
with eyes that know the darkness of my soul.

Very beautiful. I like it. It's making me want to get into photography.
