      I hope you're joking.

I like the effort in the work, though.

Wow. I am quite fond of your work Omicron!
I really like "A dying horse."

This would explain the nature of your photos in post pitures of yourself.

I have made countless threads here in the Artists' Corner about Abstract. There does not seem to be that many followers.

Your brush strokes seem very fluid.

I know. Most people don't really understand art if it doesn't outwardly "look nice" etc.

I am conscious that I would be far more successful here if I just drew lots of anime, and I could easily do that, but it feels so.. worthless.

You can't represent a pure unbridled feeling or emotion easily in anything but abstract art.

I used to hate abstract art and only draw "realistic" things. It seems so sad.

Aha. Well. I suppose so. I never was much of a photographer, but I can sort of see where you're coming from.

That all of this is art?

Some of it is quite good, though, but not all of it. Some of it feels like it's an expressed collection of emotions that is made in a way that's (possibly accidentally) not easy for others to understand. I'm not really a big fan of "modern art".

Having said what you just did is what most artists are after -pouring out their emotion. If the artist is true to himself it will often not make sense to others at first glance because it is similar to the subjective emotion that was being rendered.
It is common place for people to shun more modern or abstract art because they do not see something easy to perceive.

      .

What a lot of people don't realize is although abstract, there are still rules and fundamentals that an artist will follow to engage in his/her work whether it be abstract, cubism, anime or what ever. But by knowing that one can critique modern art more accurately.

Truth, believe it or not, I find it far harder to successfully paint an abstract piece than a naturalistic one.

Abstract art is incredibly hard to do, not physically but mentally and aesthetically.

I suppose they're on topic for me. If you asked me about any individually I could tell you where it comes from.

But I agree, they aren't obvious, by any stretch of the imagination.

      Thanks, anyway.
