Dried Up Ocean

A cold shiver up my spine, my eyes opened wide,
The winds kept blowing, but water hadn't flied.
Pushing up, and peering off the rail,
I saw just sand, and the broken sail.

Emptiness for miles, and a pit so deep,
My own fate visible, I started to weep.
What was left, who was with me?
Shut up, sit down, and have a look-see.

The world's a game, we're all alone,
Just dance with dollies till you're fully grown.
The emptiness is there, it always will be.
But that's the last thing you should see.

Pain and pleasure, wants and needs.
Thinkers for logic, fools for creeds.
The game's never ending, the wheel will spin.
I smile at you, and you look at my sin.

Look without eyes, hear without ears.
If you feel without hands, you shouldn't have fears.
Some will dance, others will play.
Others sing, and other want to pray.

We're in a dried up ocean, a bottomless pit.
I'll keep walking, and not have a fit.
We're all alone, sharing cosmic dreams.
I'd rather not wake up, with my life at its seams.

Nothing to lose, nothing to gain.
I'm some nothing, merged into a brain.
Day and night, life and death.
Make every moment count, draw every breath.

Those that matter are those that leave.
Our loves and truths, together they weave.
Weave a tapestry, of goods and bads.
Painting a picture, of our 'wish-we-had's.

We're in a dried up ocean, full of wind and sand.
It may seem otherwise, but life is bland.
Cycles here, patterns there.
We focus on those that don't really care.

Wondering what exactly is so true.
Life's a bitch, and her answers are cold.
For false pleasure, are our own souls sold.

I am just a creature, I am not great.
I'm bound by reason, time, and fate.
Split the hairs, pull my strings.
Nothing is what my conversion brings.

Simple yet complex, ugly yet beautiful.
