The DV Photography competition; March09

Okay guys, the monthly DV photography competition is underway, a couple of weeks late, so shortage of time to get in your submissions, but next month should give you longer.

Just post your entry with a little information about the picture, it can be an old photo you took, or a new one. Photoshop and other creative editing permitted. At the closing date, I will take all entries and create a poll and then anyone can vote. The winner decides the next months subject.

I think this should do for the rules, but we can make more as we go along. I will need admin to open this post to add a poll when all submissions are in.

Rules:

~One entry per person
~Image may be edited as much as you like, but you must have taken the original picture
~You can use old or new photo's

(will add more as and when required)

Subject: Plants - This can be anything from house plants, garden plants or anything you'd find in a park or forrest

Closing date for entries: 24th March 2009

I'm going to go ahead and post this here, though I posted it in another thread some time back. It's a photo I took at Callaway Gardens, a local attraction here in Pine Mountain, Georgia. This grass lines the path up through the vegetable garden, where you can buy fresh vegetables in the summer. It was edited in Photoshop CS3 to add the purplish blue tint and the text, and contrast was upped. It was cropped to 1400x900 pixels to serve as a wallpaper.

I promise next month I'll post a newly taken photograph. This is just one of my absolute favorite photos of plants, and seemed to fit. If the text is a problem, I can re-edit it from scratch; just let me know.

This is a photo of some purple flowers in my grandmother's backyard. I'm pretty sure I didn't edit it, but if I did than all I did was make it more "vivid". I don't remember for sure, though, because I took it over the summer ('08).
Anyway, this is probably the best photo I've ever taken, and I am proud of it.

Thanks! I actually took that with my Canon PowerShot (A560) back in September of '07, a year before I got my Nikon D40; I hadn't realized it was that long ago until I checked the EXIF data!

Shift, those are some badass macros! I kinda like the fruit one best, myself, but that single strawberry close-up is pretty awesome.

My garden isn't blooming yet this season, so I started looking through old photos and got overwhelmed. So I chose something that's a little different.

This is a cactus in bloom in April. I took it on one of my many hikes not far from where I live in Arizona.

Yay, I got the photos! Though they weren't as I was expecting... the sapling I took a photo of grew significantly since I first found it 2 weeks ago. Didn't look quite as cool since all the extra leaves clash with the main part I wanted a photo of and they covered the brown stem...which would have been nice to have in the photo.

All the leaves you see around the three light-green parts in the middle weren't there before.

I sort of cheated on this last one. The wind was ruining my day XD

I'm torn on whether to choose the second one or the last one.
