It is One Fifty in the morning.

      The wind blows...
Ice and cold. The crystals sting my eyes. The snow below crunches as I trek onward.
I sniff the air. The cold burns...But I smell...
      Blood.
My fur ruffles as the storm continues... My stomach aches.

      I am hungry.

The smell draws me in. It is all I can think about. I need to eat. Miles of ice make foraging impossible. That smell... Fresh. Perhaps some poor creature met its demise earlier than it willed. But then, who wills to end at all?
Those in pain, perhaps. But I myself feel pain. Mass amounts. I have not eaten in days. My stomach tears at me to find food. Yet, I do not seek an end.

      I seek the opposite...

      I am so hungry.

The smell is stronger. I am moving in the right direction. My head... My head burns. Screams for supplement. That which I can not provide... Yet.

      I am so very hungry.

Light glints in the distance. The smell is so strong. My mouth salivates. A taste of blood. More food than I've had in days... I am so close. Be still, my stomach... Be calm, my mind.
There it is. Silver and crimson. I care not. I taste.

Pain... But pleasure. The blood tastes so sweet. My tounge tells me to stop. But my mind and stomach shout in protest. I continue.

I am just so very hungry...

I continue. Lap after lap... The blood does not wear out. My tounge challenges my mind and stomach. A shouting match of those without lungs... I feel weak... The hunger?

No. I should be getting stronger. What is this pain? My vision stirs... I stumble. I continue. I am hungry... No food for days...

I...fall. I was just so very hungry... But now...I...hunger no longer.
      Bollocks.

This is pretty alright, actually. You do a pretty good job of a (were?) wolf or something and the hunger it's experiencing. My only problem is that the ending doesn't seem all that clear. The character drank some poison blood or something?

Oh, and the ellipses. Some of them could easily be replaced by a dash or a comma or a fullstop or something. Otherwise it makes the writing seem a bit overdramatic, you know what I mean?
My fur ruffles as the storm continues... My stomach aches.
This could easily be this . . .

My fur ruffles as the storm continues. My stomach aches.
      . . .for example.

      I liked this piece.

Oh blimey... That was much worse than I thought.

In my lack of sleep, I seemed to have left out two very important pieces of imformation. I appologize.

For one, I was a polar bear.

Second, a good way to kill a polar bear is to stick a bloody knife in the snow. The bear, if hungry, will like the blood off. The knife will cut its tongue, then the bear will bleed back on to the knife.
The bear will continue to lap up the blood (which is mostly its own) until it dies of blood loss.

Sorry... Low mental faculties in the night.

      It Is 2:40 AM.

      Let us do this~

The pinnacle of manliness that was Black_Eagle stood in a pool of blood. His eyes closed, his fists clenched. He shook his head thinking about how he got in his situation.

Memories flashed. Tears welled. He thought of nothing but the horrors he had just seen. And even worse, the pleasure that they gave him.

      ~

Delphinus knew not what he was getting himself into. He was disturbed, of course. One would have to be to do what he does. That is, hookerkilling. What started out as an accident snowballed into an unhealthy obsession. Something that changed his day-to-day.

He found pleasure in it... Needed it. He wanted others to know the rush. The fun...

Slayer, the poor soul. He didn't know what he was getting himself in to. No one did, really. Slayer and Delphinus never got along great, but occasionally would chitchat and make jokes. Delphinus wanted to be better friends with Slayer. He decided to take him under his wing, as they say.

Slayer was uneasy about it all. He didn't know what was happening. Delphinus had offered him a drink after work. Slayer accepted, he didn't want to be rude. They had too many. At least, Delphinus acted like he did. He was quite levelheaded. He knew what was going to happen. There was one surprise though. Black_Eagle. The man had met them at the bar. Delphinus had always found him amusing, so he made a small change in his plan.

Slayer was snapped into a sense of sobriety... His mind rushed then focused. In front of him, Black_Eagle, drenched in blood. His hand were wet. What had happened? He looked around. The hooker was untouched. Delphinus looked sick. Himself, bleeding. Black_Eagle showed no emotion when he pulled the knife from Slayer's stomach. He looked at Delphinus and said, "You could tell, couldn't you? He couldn't do something like this. It's not in his blood. But you and I, we're men. Real men."

Delphinus was horrified. His plans were always so well set out. How could this one go so horribly wrong. He had to do something. But what? Run.

There was no hope. The situation was too far gone. He needed to leave. Get out as fast as possible. He couldn't think. The blood of his friend floated in the air around him. He couldn't breathe. What had gone so horribly wrong?

Pain shot from his calf to the rest of his body. The sound of the silenced shot quickly moved through his ears. He grabbed his leg. Tumbling to the ground.

Black_Eagle came toward him. Delphinus tried to get away. His leg betrayed him. He could hardly move. He watched as the gun rose. He watched as a smirk crossed Black_Eagle's mouth. He heard the words whispered "Real men." The gun sounded again. So quiet.

There Black_Eagle stood. Blood collecting at his feet.

And so I stood there in the dark alleyway, watching my latest victim bleed out before me. Just like I had dozens of times before and would do dozens of times more. The sadistic pleasure I gained from hunting the most dangerous game never eluded me in these moments. It was as if an imaginary scale which, when weighed against the favor of another, uplifted me into ecstasy.

The body laid there, twitching. The pool of blood just began to envelop my feet. I took a deep breath, sucking in the charged air. Looking up at me, Delphinus gargled one last time and movement ceased. I could feel the death enclosing me; every cell in my body gleefully stealing away the life of a fallen man.

But something was different about tonight.

Sensing movement, I jerk my head to the left. A bolt of fear struck my heart as I catch but a glimpse of a moonlit shadow of a leg running behind the brick building. "What," I whisper aloud with a hastened voice, "the fuck was that?"

And then I got that feeling. You know, that feeling you get when you talk badly about someone and it turns out they're standing right behind you. I slowly turn my head to the right, chills becoming more intense as I do so. A figure stood there several dozen feet away on the sidewalk with its head turned down. I am reminded of the cold grip of my silenced nine millimeter. With my left foot, I step over the lifeless body of Delphinus and take several additional steps toward my opposition. A flickering streetlight above the figure reveals him to be a skinny red-headed man. "Slayer," I yell with faked confidence, "You must have had more guts in you than I expected."

To which the figure replied, "Muuh, muuuuh, moooh."

"What's the matter," I yell, gripping my pistol harder, "At a loss for words in sight of one of my beautiful masterpieces?" Light still flickering, I can see the bloodstain from the injury I inflicted upon him. As I examine him, I spot something peculiar. Blood dripped form the tip of his chin and a flesh-and-crimson colored object was in his mouth.

      "Muuuuuuuuuuh"

The sides of my mouth tired and collapsed into a frown. I can no longer sustain a fake smile. Moving swiftly, I take an aggressive stance, raising my silenced pistol in line with with slayer's head. Voice now beginning to tremble, "You'll regret playing games with your life!"

I stand there for a moment watching slayer. How could he still be alive? What is that object? The tension kept rising and rising. I knew all I had to do was pull the trigger, but something prevented me. There was a little voice inside my head whispering in my ear to wait for his next move.

In this moment, the cold of the night felt more real. My hand began shaking as terror tightened its grip on my soul. Was I right to kill Delphinus? He would have killed that poor hooker if I had not intervened. No, of course I was right. I had to be right, he was a bad, bad man.

Slayer slowly lifted his head up. In the movement the object shifted and fell from his mouth. It was a disembodied ear!

"GRAAAAAAAAAAAGHHH!" erupted from slayer, spewing blood from his throat and speckling the concrete before him crimson.

Something scratched against the back of my leg. I whirl around to meet the force.

There he was, bloodshot eyes and glaring lifelessly up at me, Delphinus was dragging himself from his site of death.

      I gasp, "Delphinus!"

      10:30 Pm.

Black_Eagle could not believe his eyes. There was no time for doubt, though. He kicked Delphinus - Delphinus. This thing could not be Delphinus - He kicked this monster in the face. Jumping away, and getting himself into as much light as he could. He raised his pistol, and without hesitation shot What-Used-To-Be-Delphinus in the head.

The monstrosity dropped. Lifeless again. Black_Eagle shook the fear from his head. Slayer was still there. Alive. Dead. Both? It didn't matter right now. Black_Eagle raised his gun again. His hands were trembling so much. He had never felt anything like this before... Such fear.

Slayer let out a horrible screech. Charged, full force. A bullet made its way through his shoulder. It was like Slayer didn't even feel it. Slayer leapt at Black_Eagle. Black_Eagle was able to shoot of one more round. Directly in Slayer's forehead.

Slayer dropped. Black_Eagle was still shaking. He felt his whole body go cold...

He vomited in the alley... His body couldn't take what just happened... Things died, and came back. That only happens in movies...and with Jesus. Black_Eagle chuckled at the thought of Zombie Jesus. His chuckle slowly turned to maniacal laughter. His mind could just not comprehend what had happened... He needed to leave.

He walked out of the alley... Not caring about the blood splatter on his shirt. Leaving his pistol burnished. He stumbled his way home. On his way there, he heard something in an alleyway. He glanced down it... Terrified of what it might be.

A street cat scurried out of the alley. Once again, Black_Eagle chuckled to himself. He put away his pistol. He wondered silently how he had forgotten it was still in his hand.

The second he turned his back on the alley, a horribly screech came from it. Suddenly Black_Eagle was on the ground.

He felt teeth rip into his neck. The pain blinded him, but he knew what was happening. The same things that Delphinus and Slayer had become had been drawn by the screech. Real men.

Black_Eagle slowly died as those things tore at his body.

Somewhere in the night, a great caterwauling arose. Between the screeches and high-pitched yowls, if you listened closely (and spoke cat) you could hear words...

      [We hunger.]

      [Feed us.]

      [Warm cream and tuna!]

      Catgirls...

Why did it have to be catgirls? Henry Jones, Jr. hated catgirls. He had hated them ever since he was a teenager, when he found himself leading a merry chase through a train pursued by a group of treasure hunters whom he had (temporarily) relieved of the Cross of Castaneda, which belonged in a museum. During the chase along the tops of the train cars, he had fallen into a car full of catgirls, members of a traveling circus.

They had done things to him. Things he preferred not to remember. Things that haunted his dreams at night.

Now they were here. It was an unlikely place to find them; they usually preferred the cooler climes of 4chan and Google Images. Of course, Google Images was everywhere these days, since the Crash. Usually it was censored, though; the little black bars stopped them from biting or . . . worse. Not tonight. Tonight they were running free, and his Cool Whip wasn't going to be enough.

Cursing under his breath, Henry — or as his friends knew him, Henry — drew his trusty pistol and put his back to the wall. Then he waited. He didn't have to wait long. The first catgirl rounded the corner within seconds, a silenced nine millimeter pistol in one hand and a bloody lump in the other.

Something about the look in the catgirl's eye caught Henry's attention. A desperate, pleading stare, even as she dove for his jugular. A certain blankness, a confusion, as if the catgirl wasn't quite sure where it was or how it had come to be there and what it was doing. A certain—and then it hit him. This one was recently turned. Then he saw the gas mask sticking out of it's backpack, and he knew.

"Bleagle?" It was a surprised exclamation, just before he blew the back of its head off with a round from his revolver.

      Well done, guys.

      Turtles~

William was a turtle. As most people would agree, turtles are nice. William did what most turtles do. That is, walk. He walked slowly and carefully. Merely getting from point A to point B in the safest possible manner. Turtles are cautious by nature. No turtle likes being in any sort of danger unless they have to.

William comes to a split path. William had never been down either of these paths. Which one is safest? William observed them for any clues.

The path on the left had deer prints in the mud. This would mean that deer are comfortable going down this path. But does that mean it is safe? No, for a deer is much more agile than a turtle. Perhaps there is a downed tree or some other barrier on this path. A turtle could not get past such things. Or perhaps the path is more prone to creatures that feed on deer. If deer commonly go down this path, a coyote could find it quite beneficial to stake that path out. But would a coyote even pay notice to a turtle? Could William take that chance? For now, he could not be sure.

The turtle took a bite from a dandelion and looked down the other path. The path looked ominous. The trees were bare and loomed over the path as if trying to block it from all sight. The path had many small rocks and the weeds along the path were thorned and malicious. Would these matter to a turtle? William knew he could make it over small rocks. He was wise enough to know which weeds to eat and which to not. He doubted that many other animals would be present there. Perhaps a snake or two, but the snakes do not bother the turtles. But what about if the path is longer than he believed? Would William be able to find sustenance further down the path?

The friendly path and the path of troubles.

What did William decide? I can not say. That part of the story has not been written yet.

Orginally written at 10:20 AM and finished starting at 2:50PM

Abra, I'm not sure if that was an insult or not... You darn kids with your hip slang.

      ~

Delphinus had just sat down for breakfast. He loved breakfast. It was the cheapest and most filling meal of the day, He felt the slightly greasy tray in his hands. He rested it on the counter and gave the cook a smile. He asked for two slices of French toast and some bacon. This meal and a cup of coffee, Delphinus knew to be $4.35. It was filling enough for him to have a light lunch. It was his form of saving money.

Daniel Danciu saw Delphinus walking toward a table. Daniel waved a friendly hello, and went to retrieve his own breakfast. Delphinus put his tray down and sat. He stared at the golden toast and thinly sliced bacon. Memories flooded his mind. He remembered making bacon with his mother, dipping bread into and egg batter with his cousins, spilling maple syrup on the floor in the old house leaving a stain for months... All these thoughts made him smile to himself nostalgically.

Daniel swiftly returned, his tray now had pancakes, coffee, and sausages (of course.) He sat down across from Delphinus. They both began eating with minimal conversation. Daniel finished first, he looked over at Delphinus with a small grin hidden under his massive now crumb speckled beard.

Daniel felt a little awkward in the silence, so he filled it with what he loved most. His own voice.

Pulling the paper coffee cup away from his lips, he chuckled and said, "Memories are odd little things, are they not?" Delphinus responded with a maple syrup filled grunt. Daniel continued, "You see, these pancakes and sausage - now gone, but you know what I mean - were delicious, yes. But I have had better. I can not think of where or when I had better pancakes than these, but I know I have. Their taste and smell brought up many memories; my father's attempts at making breakfast, my sister and I mixing batter."

Delphinus swallowed his last mouthful of bacon, and sipped from his coffee. He cleared his throat and looked up at Daniel quizzically. "You know, DD, it is very odd that you would mention this. As you were getting your delicious pancakes, I was reminded of many things. All of these things came from the sight of this French toast."

Daniel seemed slightly startled. But this was not an uncommon occurrence. Often when these two would get together, one would mention something the other had just finished thinking about. Usually when this happened, they would talk about metaphysics and shared consciousness. This time, however, they stayed on topic. Daniel (and also Delphinus) had brought up an interesting topic for discussion: Memory.

Daniel waited for Delphinus to make his standard argumentative model of real life examples. Delphinus and Daniel had gotten into a habit of arguing, theorizing, and generally discussing these sorts of things.

"I can remember," Delphinus paused to reformat his statements. "I can remember waking up this morning. I remember how I felt. I remember how many times I pressed the snooze button on he alarm." Delphinus smirked and raised three fingers. "I can remember my shower and getting ready for the day. All of it. Now, ask me how I woke up three days ago." Delphinus shook his head. "There is no way I could answer. Now, you and I both know that short term memory turns to long term memory primarily while we sleep, correct?"

      Daniel nodded.

"Then, the longest short term memory held in a single day would be of waking up." Delphinus reiterated, "If I am awake for sixteen hours, then I must hold this memory for sixteen hours before it could be turned into long term memory, right?"

Daniel thought for a moment, "Yes, that would be true if we were to turn some short term memories into long term memories at night, and completely throw out the rest."

      Delphinus realized his mistake.

Daniel continued, "Short term memory lasts quite a bit longer than twenty-four hours."

"But how long," said Delphinus, "and what merits something as long term and another as not."

      Daniel responded, "Perhaps importance?"

Delphinus countered, "Perhaps not. If I need to remember to pick up my sister from the airport, can I not forget?"

Daniel nodded. That one was a given. "Perhaps we can test this. You mentioned you hit the snooze button three times this morning. I could ask you how many times you hit the snooze button each morning until you could no longer recall."

Delphinus replied, "But then would the fact that I hit the snooze button three times this morning not eventually become ingrained in my memory? Even if we used a different example, the repetition would cause it to stick with me."

Daniel quickly replied, "Then repetition it is." Delphinus looked confused. Daniel continued, "Repetition could be a major contributor to long term memory. If you needed to pick up your sister from the air port, and constantly told yourself that. You would most likely not forget."

Delphinus nodded and smiled, "Yes, I would agree with that. But what about things that are not repeated? Things that I don't think of often, but are still in my memory? We could look these things up, if you''d like."

Daniel shook his head, "I think we both agree that this is much more entertaining than that. Perhaps emotion has something to do with non-repetitive memories. Most things I remember are highly attached to some emotion. Happiness, sadness."

Delphinus nodded once again, "Actually, that fits in quite well with repetition.
As you might know, the reason 'sad music' brings up emotions of sadness is because our minds have associated those sounds to sad images. Just think about the last few movies you've watched, if there was a sad scene, there was sad music. Perhaps the same thing happens in waking life without us noticing. In almost all aspects."

      Daniel nodded slowly.

Delphinus thought of a good example, but only one would come up. A real example. Something he had experienced. "Say, Danny. Do you mind if I tell a story?"

Daniel chuckled, "Another real life example, Delph?"

Delphinus shook his head, "Nope, this time it is for real."

Daniel gestured for him to go on as he drank the last of his coffee.

Delphinus began, "Now, we lived in the same town, so I assume you remember the blind turn on Clyde Drive. When I was eight years old, my mother let me sit on her lap and drive, as most parents do with their kids sometimes. The road was clear, so she figured it would be safe. I remember how the road looked. I remember seeing the raccoon run out onto the road. My mother quickly hit the breaks. My head rocked forward, but then launched backwards when we stopped. I struck my mother in the face. I felt so bad... I scooted off her lap and apologized many times. She said it was fine. She started driving. I buckled myself in after I crawled to the back seat.

"I remember seeing my mothers head nod twice... Then her face landed on the steering wheel. I had hit her harder than either of us realized. She had just lost consciousness. I was buckled in. What could I do? I tried to move, but there was a loud crash. The car had hit another car as it came by that turn. The woman in the other car was killed almost immediately. I felt very responsible. It is something I can never forget. It was also the most emotional point in my entire life." Delphinus bowed his head. He hadn't told many people that story.

Daniel had turned white. "Yes... A good point..." Daniel could do nothing but stare at Delphinus.

Delphinus apologized for his example, and finally looked at the clock. He told Daniel that they should both get to class. He asked if they should meet for lunch and continue this discussion. Daniel nodded slowly. He gathered his things still staring at Delphinus. He hurried away, but did not go to class. He called his father, and through tears, asked him where his mother had died.

~Got bored, revenge time.

Daniel Danciu now knew who had taken his mother from he and his family. He was torn. Delphinus had become a good friend. And Delphinus never knew, never meant to. But what about Daniel's sister? She is younger than Daniel, she had barely gotten to know her mother. At least Daniel had a few memories lurking around.

Daniel got off the phone with his father. He did not tell him why he needed to know or why he burst out into tears when he heard the words "blind turn on Clyde Drive." Daniel sat in his dorm. He sat for a long time. The setting sun shined very little light in the small room. Soon it was night. The room was completely dark. Daniel still sat there. Legs crisscrossed, his back against the dresser. His eyes buried in his hands. The room disappeared to him. He was no where. He was completely immersed in his own mind. Thinking, only thinking.

The next morning, Delphinus saw Daniel and gave an awkward hello. Daniel grabbed his cup of coffee. He stood up, and walked over to Delphinus. Daniel punched Delphinus in the stomach. Then again in the face. Delphinus fell back onto a table. Daniel poured the burning hot coffee on Delphinus's face. Then, he took the empty cup and began trying to shove it down Delphinus's throat. Delphinus choked to death.

      Or.

The next morning, Delphinus saw Daniel and gave an awkward hello. Daniel left his cup of coffee at the table. He stood up, and walked over to Delphinus. Quickly drawing his knife, Daniel slit Delphinus's throat before Delphinus could react in any way. Delphinus dropped to the ground, gargling his own blood.

      Or.

The next morning, Delphinus saw Daniel and gave an awkward hello. Daniel brought his cup of coffee with him. Daniel then asked Delphinus for a pen. When Delphinus looked down in his backpack for a pen, Daniel poured poison into Delphinus's coffee. Now it was merely a waiting game.

      Or.

The next morning, Delphinus never saw Daniel coming.

      Or.

The next morning, Delphinus saw Daniel and gave an awkward hello. Daniel responded by pulling out his awesome katana and cleaving Delphinus in two.

Daniel stopped imagining... This had to be unhealthy. Delphinus was not responsible. And harming him would do nothing to bring Daniel's mother back. Daniel knew this. But could he accept this? Go to breakfast the next morning and act like nothing happened? Or could he even tell Delphinus?

Daniel really did not know what to do.

He decided to go to breakfast the next morning. Delphinus gave him an awkward hello. Daniel could do nothing but chuckle to himself.

Daniel sat down. Took a sip of coffee and said, "Revenge is a funny little thing, isn't it?"
