      Doodle Book

About two years ago during my sophomore year of high school me and some friends started a doodle book. It's a collaborative project where you and anyone else draw in small or large doodles in this book. They can be independent of each other or interact with one another (which is cooler) but the whole point it to bring out the artist in people around you.

I have been reading a book which sparked my interest in creating a new doodle book. It is called "A whole new mind" by Daniel H. Pink. He explains that we are moving into a new age called the Conceptual age where artists poets and right brained individuals will flourish. And having a balance between the right and left brain is essential.

He also explained an experiment done with school children. Where the experimenter asked kindergarten and first graders to raise their hand if they are an artist and all of them raised their hand eagerly. By the time they reached third grade most of the students raised their hands but were more apprehensive about it. And by the time he asked fifth graders, almost no kids raised their hands.

The MFA is quickly becoming the new MBA.

I encourage everyone to start their own doodle book and carry it around, it sparks interest wherever I go and people usually snatch it and start putting their own art into it.

P.S I strongly suggest that you read "A Whole New Mind" by Daniel H. Pink if you haven't already done so.

I think I have a million doodles in a million different places. I don't like cramped drawing/doodling, so I am quick to start a new page. So I have tons of sketch books filled with pages that are half empty. Ah well. I like the idea of attempting to have one doodle book, though I doubt I'd stick with it.

Mmm, but the point of it is to share and influence others to do the same and have it be a collaborative project, not solo.

That actually sounds like a pretty sweet concept. It'd be cool if we could get DV'ers to contribute a sort of online version of a doodle book here in this thread.

That's a cool idea. Like submitting a picture/photo/photomanip and making a collage of them into a page? That would be something!

Yeah, pretty much, and since it's a 'doodle' book, even MS Paint scribblings would be acceptable, so pretty much anyone can contribute... Still, I'd encourage putting in at least a little effort in regards to making doodles presentable.

Mebbe I'ma put something up later when I get home. If other people do it, that is...
