[[Here's the simplicity of it all, I will post this story here. If you like it, I'll continue posting more. This is not my
first attempt of writing a story but it is the first time I am posting one on here. So, here we go! ]]
The crackling sounds of tree branches snapping, awoke Nadia, from her slumber. She never once opened her eyes to the creeping of footsteps approaching her. Her heart was pounding as she listened the echo’s of the night slowly diminish to only the sound of crickets and owls. She swallowed hard, not moving from where she lay. Nadia had to calm herself down with the inquisitive thoughts that kept racing through her mind. A bold move of hers would have involved her to run but she knew better that. More people die that way. She silently told herself. Her breath escaped her as she came to realize she had not been breathing.
Finally, her leg twitched from not being able to move for so long. She noted the crunching sounds of dead leaves underneath her boots. Another realization
hit her, “I’m surrounded by trees.” She uttered so softy to herself that it would have been unnoticeable to anyone who were not an earshot away from her.
She took one final breath before she let her eyes flutter open. Her eyes took merely a few seconds to adjust to the darkness that enshrouded her. Her thoughts moving faster than her eyes would allow her to, she moved her head to where she had heard the footsteps, and then she spat out the bits of leaves and hair from her mouth to better inspect on yond farther. Her furrow scrunched as she squint her eyes but could not see anything. Her head shot up to a different direction from the howling of a coyote, in a not so far away distance.
Nadia lazily dragged her legs towards her and sat up, a moment of a dizziness spell struck her. She placed both her hands on each side of her face, the
pain throbbing in her head like a jackhammer to cement; but beyond the best wishes of what her body wanted she forced herself to stand. She dusted
herself off, looking at the rip on her pant leg of her blue jeans. A frown shown on her face but soon after disappeared as she used the blade off her finger
to feel in the hole of her jeans if she were injured. She winced at the alarming pain that shot through her leg. Her index finger moved along the grooves
of the wound on her calf,to feel how deep the gouge was, ignoring the pain to what was sent to her brain.
The clouds peeled away briefly, like skin on an orange, and moonlight shined down to reveal the blood that was soaked into her jeans. Her eyes shot down
to the ground at the dried blood on the leaves and grass from where she once lay. Her tongue clicked in disgust as she thought it was going to be a lot
tougher to get out of where she was at back to civilization. From the sound of things, she knew she was in the thick of the woods. More shocking to her is
that the coyote had stopped howling. The rustling of trees began and then birds had taken flight. To her, it was not a good sign and she spoke too soon as
she heard growling amidst the bush that was behind her. She dared not look for she already had an idea that it was her little furry friend stopping by to grab
itself a meal.
“This could prove to be mighty interesting.” She spoke to herself more than to the coyote.
