Photography Tasks

I remember we used to have photography tasks..in like 2007. They lasted for a month or so, I think they died down because the member (thegnome54) who was setting up these tasks left or something along those lines.

I know a ton of you DVers are into photography, want to be, are interested, etc. I thought it'd be cool to revive them. :)

The way I see it..

- We should do one every two weeks or so. One week is too short a time, a month is too long.
- Either vote on subjects, or everyone suggests a subject and one is randomly chosen. Voting every two weeks or whatever might get too messy..
- Have a couple of people in charge, no biggy, only making the threads and introducing the subject. Just in the case of the absence of someone, there should be a back up person.

Any ideas or suggestions, please post.

I don't want this to be a competition! More so a place where aspiring photographers and photographers can have a fun little task to do. Or just people who like to take pics..may be interested..whatever.


So if you're interested start posting! Tell me what you guys think.

I'm not sure I have any talent for photography (I haven't tried much), but this sounds like fun!

All right guys, I'm not all that creative with topics, so it'd be much appreciated if you either PMed me or posted some ideas in this thread.

I want the topics to be loose and open to interpretation, don't really want to restrict creativeness. At the same time they can't be too broad (e.g. nature). Think we'll go with randomly choosing.

I would love to see some dream related themes. :) It would be cool if we could actually get some of photographs used around the site somehow.

I don't know about anyone else, but for me it is winter here. Still snow on the ground and all...but if most people don't have snow I guess it wouldn't make sense to do a snow or snow critter theme? Or icicles!! Oooo that would be a good one. I guess this is where a poll would come in handy. :D

I'm thinking a winter theme will work out all right. I like icicles as well.. but remember guys, it doesn't have to be literally icicles. Open to interpretation. I love conceptual photography.

First official thread will be posted Saturday night/Sunday morning. :) It'll contain all the "official" details, like theme. Keep them coming btw, I'm planning on making themes recyclable.

Lol, can I do spring instead? Winter's pretty much over here. =P Then again, it doesn't exactly snow here, so I guess you couldn't really tell from a picture anyway... Or I could try something more interpretive, if I can think of something.

The theme isn't already decided or anything. And it won't be "winter." That's way too broad (spring is too broad too). More specifics would be appreciated, XeL gave a good example of one.

List so far:

- Icicles
- Separation/Segregation
- Playground
- Spring (specify)
- Dream (specify)
- Refraction
- Reflection
- Bird in flight
- Clouds (Should save this for warm weather)

We're just a few here, and since it's being done every two weeks, I'm sure we can get around to all the themes.

To give you guys an idea, past subjects have been: water drop, fly, sunlight.

I think "Playground" would make a decent theme.
