      some of my artwork...

Great to have an artists' corner on here. Here is some of my older work. I had to put it all on hold for a while, but am just starting back up again. There is more artwork and a few short films on my website snodart.com if you feel like taking a peek. I have been contemplating doing some paintings of my dreams, but I'm still not sure if it would be a worth while venture. I don't think everybody would be able to appreciate it in the same way that I would. Anyway...

I'm loving the sculptures on your site. I had wondered earlier too if your avatar was your own work as well. Do you do lost wax casting?

(I'm not seeing the images in your post, by the way)

Thanks Invader. Hmmm, Not sure why they didn't show up. I can see them on my computer. Strange.

Yes, the bronzes are from lost wax casting. The two bronzes on my site I did the lost wax process from beginning to end myself. The Treeman, which should be in the post above (but is not on my site yet) was poured at a local bronze foundry.

Oh, and my avatar is a self a self portrait from 5 or so years ago.

      Thanks again.

EDIT: I tried a new location for the images on my web server. I think they should show up above now... ?

It could just be something on my end, since the links to the individual images work if I throw them into the address bar. The one titled "Beer" is nothing short of amazing, by the way. I can't imagine how you did the lighting from the water onto the boy's face (who, by the way, strongly resembles my younger brother).

And when you say you did the process for the two on your site yourself, does that mean you had your own equipment? I'd like to tackle to the lost wax process at some point, but current limitations prevent me from pursuing it, at least for the time being. Did you learn that at a school? Also, did you major in art, or would you happen to be an architect?

Thanks Invader. For Beer I used a photo of my daughter (she had a boys haircut at the time). The color on the face from the water is just a very thin coat of paint. I thinned the oil paint with linseed oil so that it was mostly transparent... letting the original colors still show through.

When I poured the two bronzes that are on my site, I was in college getting my fine art degree. The school had it's own small bronze foundry. The process is long and risky, but pretty interesting and fun all the same. I did actually try and pour the treeman sculpture above while at school, but the mold cracked leaving me with a 300lb blob of bronze and sand. I kept the rubber mold from the original clay sculpture. So, I sculpted it about 6 years ago and only recently had it poured by the pros. Here is an image of what it looked like after my mold cracked 6 years ago:

You should check and see if any local colleges have sculpting classes with lost wax casting. It's good fun.

I don't see any pics in this thread. Will have a look at your site.

      EDIT: You are very talented.

      Thanks Flashdance.

I changed the hotlink protection on my web server. Maybe they will show up now?
